I liked that they are now using the expanded universe now, adding the Fantastic 4 to the rotation. :up;

Straight out of the Walt Simonson run. I hope with how strong the show has been with this year and the Avengers movie that someone talks some sense into Jeph Loeb about keeping this show around.

Other worthy heroes have wielded Mjölnir before, including Captain America. One person who has never been able to wield it is the Hulk.

If you look at the inscription, it says "anyone who is worthy." So others can wield it, but it's pretty rare.

I really meant to watch this, but never got around to it. I plan on checking out the first season on Netflix, while trying to record season two on repeats.

Re: Avengers: The Earth Mightiest Heroes Animated Series - Coming Soon

Fuck

we've been hearing rumors for awhile that marvel would be cancelling their awesome animated series avengers earth’s mightiest heroes. Today that rumor has been confirmed; the series is gone. It's a shame that this only got two seasons, as it was one of the best animated series on tv. The news was confirmed in a press release by marvel that also revealed the show would be replaced by another avengers series called marvel's avengers assemble.

the avengers: Earth’s mightiest heroes won’t be renewed for the 3rd season. Marvel animation will present their newly developed series marvel’s avengers assemble in 2013.

the image above was released to promote the new series, which looks like it's going to fall more in line with joss whedon's avengers film. I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot more marvel characters introduced in the series though. We should get some more details at this year's comic-con.

Marvel has also announced that they will be renewing ultimate spider-man for a second season. I've seen a lot of negative talk about this series from the fanboys, but the fact of the matter is it's a show for kids, and the kids are loving it. The show has has become very successful and has more than doubled its viewers, boys 6-14, boys 6-11 and boys 2-11. Not boys 15-40. The second season will also get a stronger avengers feel to it. The studio obviously wants their animated work to start having similarities to their movie work. You'll also get to see spider-man team up with characters like iron man, thor, captain america, and the hulk.

That sucks. Ultimate spider-man is awful and the new Avengers cartoon looks to be missing any style at all.

Jeph Loeb should have retired when his kid died; he was awful before, but has been worse since.

Re: Avengers: The Earth Mightiest Heroes Animated Series - Coming Soon

So we basically found out why they kept Iron Man as leader for so long... so "Cap" could take over later on.

Saw an interview with Loeb where he basically said the new show will basically be stand-alone episodes instead of the over-arching storylines this show had (and which really make this show great). That's sad. He doesn't want kids to feel like they're missing out if they didn't watch the past few episodes, which is pretty ironic considering the state of comic books today.

However, Ultimate Spidey does have a kiddified Nova and Iron Fist, so how bad could it be (note that I haven't watched it yet).

Ultimate Spider-Man is utter garbage. Luke Cage and Iron First were two of my favorite Marvel characters and they are unrecognizable on the show.

I actually only saw 10 mins of USM. Didn't dig it. Cringeworthy. Nice to see some characters that aren't used that often but then...they're not good in the show.

My problem is that the show ended up being Spider-Man and his annoying teen friends. He has a spider-cycle on the show. There is not much else that needs to be said. I do think the animation looks sweet and the character designs are excellent.

I actually feel a bit embarrassed for Bruce Timm. I lost a lot of respect for the guy after he put his name on that.

I didn't like spidey much at first but I think it's gotten much better. Really sucks about Avengers... I guess there's still hope the '13 Avengers cartoon will be even better.

No idea what DXD will do about Tron Uprising.

That really sucks. The show was a lot of fun and did a great job with the characters and stories. Sucks to see they're going to be replacing it with what's probably an inferior show.

I hope we at least get the second season on DVD...

Re: Avengers: The Earth Mightiest Heroes Animated Series - Coming Soon

Ok, watched a bit of Ultimate Spiderman during the weekend, and I can see why people are complaining. For one, (at least in the episodes I watched) it takes away the whole Spidey as an individual thing in favor of being a part of SHIELD, being a part of the team, having his teammates join his school, etc. Hard to be an outsider that way.

Also, it's like Teen Titans Go crossed with Spidey. But i do think it would appeal to kids. I don't want Avengers "kiddyfied" like this but I don't see a problem with the show. But again, that may be the Nova/Iron Fist fanboy in me.
