Best episode of the season

I don't think train wreck does justice to what a mess that family is, though I thought Bill's speech at the end was very good.

The Margene/Barb argument was awesome

"F you, Barb!"

I hope they weren't hinting at a Barb/Tommy affair is in the works

The scene at the casino was the funnniest thing in the series' run.

As much as there's no way it would have really swung the delegates, that speech was pretty awesome.

I like that they're making Bill less of an a-hole now.

I'm liking the stuff with Tommy. He seems like a decent guy. Still not sure if they want Sissy Spacek to be an ally or enemy of Bill.

My wife noticed the reporter who asked Bill about the Lost Boys was Michelle Green, Abby from the first few seasons of L.A. Law. I guess any work is better than none.

I loved Nikki wanting in on the fight even though she had no idea what it was about.

Wow, just great!

I was really pissed all week at Bill for what he said last week. But in this episode, you can clearly see Bill not really meaning it. I believe Ben over reacted a lot. Seemed like he did want to move out, no matter what happened.

There is clearly something happening with Barb and Tommy. Cant wait to see what goes on there.

So Bill faked the fight with Tommy ( I saw that coming), so Marilyn decides to go see Chakotay on her own ? So what does that mean, how is Marilyn gonna take revenge ? Bill looked worried, but he won. I'm lost!

I'm so happy they focused this episode on Bill and the family, and not on Alby, Roman, JJ, Wanda and Adaleen sub plots (none of them appeared in the episode)

Anyway we will see next week!

P.S. Is it me, or Cara Lynn look cuter then usual ?( I use the word cute cause Cassi Thomson is under 18)

He won the nomination. He still has to be beat the democrat nominee. She has plenty of time to screw him over.

Great episode. Although, I had an awkward experience after I made a couple of mean comments about the new actress playing Teeny on Twitter...the actress found my comments and called me out. Sometimes we forget how small the internet can be. It doesn't change the fact that she's terrible.

When Bill had all three of his wives nagging at him as he was trying to win the nomination, I had never felt so sorry for him. I just can't see how he keeps his true life a secret since he's really going to be under the microscope now...

Man I dont feel bad for Bill at all... He's always been an asshole and all his problems now are chickens coming home to roost. I think at the end of the season we may just see him lose everything. Which would be sad because the best part of the show is the way the family dynamic revolves around the 3 sister wives imo.

She didn't call me out...in a pwnage way. I said she fucked up every line (which she does) and I get a response from her verified account with something like: "Really? id like 2 know which yer talking about." We went back and forth, but she clearly scours twitter for comments about herself. It made me feel like a douche-supreme.

I forgot my account is locked. I'll unlock it when I get home, since Twitter is blocked at work.

Re: Big Love #39 "Sins Of The Father" 2/7/10

Believe it or not a Democrat can win political office in Utah. I lived there as a kid and still have relatives there. They told me that the mayor of Salt Lake City at one point was a Democrat, so it can happen.

You also have to keep in mind how much the Mormons (and non-Mormons) really hate the stereotype that Utah is full of Polygamists and that the Mormon chucrh still supports it. When I moved back East as a teenager it was one of the first things people asked me about (the first was if I was a Mormon or not). Really, this is the one thing that is the most unrealistic part about this season, if he came out as a polygamist after winning the election he would be removed from office pretty quickly. Also I think that the penalties for bigamy in Utah are fairly strict (I think it is considered a felony).

The whole point of Bill's campaign is that it isn't a felony and that he can "come out" as a bigamist after the election without fear of being removed from office.

Bill isn't legally married to Margene and Nikki, is he? If they had a religious ceremony but didn't file any legal paperwork, isn't he technically just keeping two mistresses?

Re: Big Love #39 "Sins Of The Father" 2/7/10

Yeah, I know that the point of Bills campaign is that polygamy is not a felony (which is wrong by the way, it varies from state to state and in Utah polygamy IS a felony) and that they couldn't remove him from office. I also know that it is only a TV show, but trust me in real life if a present day Utah State political leader came out as a polygamist there would be a huge uproar and they would try to remove him from office any way they could.

This is the same state that last season where they showed a portion of a Mormon Temple ceremony on the show had Mormon leaders angry (not to mention they really don't like the show to begin with).

Bill isn't legally married to Niki or Margene; but in Utah he could probably still be charged with bigamy (the laws in the state are a little different due to the history of polygamy in the state and how the U.S. goverment made them outlaw it in order to become a state).

Also

Re: Big Love #39 "Sins Of The Father" 2/7/10

I have to admit, I really don't get why whole polygamy thing in Bill's case. He's legally married to Barb and only Barb, any other woman should be considered mistresses.

Anyways, I'm not really a fan of the actress playing the new Teeny. In past seasons you'd barely see her and I'd wonder if they "Chuck Cunninghame'd" her. They replace her this year and now the character pops up a lot more than she used to. However, the writers are shoving her down our throats compared to before, yet she's still a pretty useless character.

Who's taking care of all the other kids? This episode Ben/Sarah and all the adults are barely at home.

Some funny lines this episode.

Ben blew the whole thing out of proportion.

I hope we don't see a Barb/Tommy affair. And I hope we don't see a Margene/Clarke affair either.

I like the hopeless/Magnolia-esque feeling this season is having.

Shh -- Bella Thorne will register for an account and get mad at you.

Cara Lynn? The only time we saw her this week, she was home.

But the thing is I dont think he's going to "come out" if he gets elected... Thats what he's telling everyone, but Bill does whats best for Bill and he will learn that its not in his best interest.

Bill set it up with Tommy to make it look to the lobbyist that he was trying to talk her into hiring her when in fact he was telling Tommy just the opposite. Jerry is Tommy's father, the Chief who oversees the casino, has a hot Israeli wife and has a thing for Margene.

On the Big Love website, they have an episode guide with very detailed plot synopsises. I used to cut & paste them here, but they recently redesigned everything and went all Flash-based, so now I can't any more.
