Good catch. I was trying to figure out what that object was and the ankh is a good guess. Not sure either if it help to figure out when the island was sunk, but it seems significant.

I'm still not sold on Jacob/Esau = God/Devil, seems too pedestrian for Lost. I remember a lot of talk last year about how Jacob really isn't "good" per se because of all the shit that has happened both directly and indirectly from his involvement, but possibly just as twisted as Esau just not as blatantly evil. In fact, with all the talk of loopholes, and Esau saying he just wants to "go home" immediately gave me this vibe (crazy, crazy theory within, proceed with caution):
Spoiler:
In the statue, Locke moves some of the bodies around. Ben watches and says, "What are you?"
"I'm not a what, Ben, I'm a who."
"You're the monster," Ben says.
"Let's not resort to name calling."
...
"What do you want?"
"Well that's the great irony here, Ben, because I want the one thing that John Locke didn't. I want to go home."
"I'm not a what, Ben, I'm a who."

"Let's not resort to name calling."
...

"Well that's the great irony here, Ben, because I want the one thing that John Locke didn't. I want to go home."
And from the second part of that quote above, I think it's clear that these guys are travellers far away from some home. Now, if they are indeed travellers, how would they be travelling I wonder? Hmmmmmm.........
all in good fun, right?

2 islands makes perfect sense. The one above water is the white one, and the one below is the blue one. BLUE - UE + ACK = BLACK It totally fits in with the rest of the themes

Juliette's "last words" were "it worked". The bomb reset the timeline so they never crashed on the island in 2004. I think what's happening now is that Lost is back to doing flashbacks again. The events of the no-crash crowd are taking place in 2004 and the events of the island crowd is taking place in 2007 (today?). Notice that no one on the island is talking about the original crash or the bomb. And when Miles tells Sawyer Juliette's last words, he seems more confused than anything. What "worked"?

I knew I recognized the man in black. Besides a trillion tv sidegigs, he was in Gone Baby Gone with the Rollie Fingers 'stache.

Terry O'Quinn as The Man in Black in Locke's body laying down a soliloquy about how pathetic his own character was when first coming to the island is an absolute masterpiece of acting gold. Topped off by great directing as he leans into and out of a shaft of light from above, pondering. Ben looks on, helpless.
I knew he was a good actor when I saw The Stepfather in '87 but damn.

I'm read somewhere that the Man in Black's real name is Edward.
People on the island will end up choosing one side or the other. The series will end in massive fight of Team Edward vs. Team Jacob. I think they're fighting over a dark haired girl who always seems depressed.

The acting and lighting was brilliant! O'Quinn's facial expression after he says 'I want to go home' is one of the creepiest ones I've seen in a loooooong time. He looks absolutely menacing.

Well, this episode should already be Terry's emmy submission, so it would be amusing if all his campaign material consisted of was just this image. no words.

I think it's been posted (documented, or whatever) that Terry was told to play Lock differently (when the switch was made) but wasn't told why.

Yeah, I don't suspect 'the jig was up' until he received the version of the finale script that had the 'fork in the socket' scene in it with the coffin reveal. The directors probably told him to play more confidently/arrogantly.

Interesting. But that still doesn't explain how a wrong assumption started to actually work on those dead blood-sucking freaks.
