Ugly Betty: GONE
To the one or two people that were watching this, sorry.

Says ABC:
We’ve mutually come to the difficult decision to make this Ugly Betty’s final season, and are announcing now as we want to allow the show ample time to write a satisfying conclusion. We are extremely proud of this groundbreaking series, and felt it was important to give the fans a proper farewell.

What's weird is I shot with America Ferrera a couple of days ago and she was going on about how the change from Friday to Wednesday would really end up helping them. So if this cancellation was "mutual," as the statement says, nobody bothered to give the head's up to America.

This season has been pretty dull. I was still rooting for the show even with the Friday move. Had some promise with the next move to Wednesday and their lineup in the 'Comedy Wednesday' but not surprised by the cancellation. Will miss all the characters and the show a lot.

This is one of my wife's favorite shows. She'll be disappointed. I tried watching with her for a while, but it just got annoying to me.

Same here. I watch it with my wife only because it looks so terrific in HD. It was tolerable dumb fun for the first two seasons, but then it sort of fell off.
However, give me a 30-minute Mark and Amanda show and I'm there...

The writing on the show has been so bad this season.

I thought the show was OK, but not great. And it is showing its age. This year, with every new plot element, I think, haven't they done that before? So give us a satisfying ending to the series and move on. But please, please don't replace it with a reality show.

I purchased season one based on all the buzz and I'm enjoying it. I'll read general reviews on the next couple of seasons to decide whether it's worth renting to close out the series.

I know how it is for all of you who like the show. I'm sorry about this, but I have to communicate it:
I will be dancing on this show's grave. I see it as all that is wrong with scripted TV today and attribute its success to a pact with satan.
To be honest, I'm not sure why I hold such a grudge against this show. It's probably ABC. They have killed more of my favorites over the years than Fox, but this survived.
I don't want to threadcrap, and I haven't been one to go into an Ugly Betty episode thread to say how I feel. This is a different beast in my eyes. It's a thread for most of the people to mourn, but it's also here for this sort of reaction.

I think this show started sucking when they started having all these guys fighting over Betty. That was not realistic at all and I felt it strayed from the premise of the show that she is supposed to be awkward and hasn't blossomed into her looks yet.

I thought it was when America lost weight between season 1 and 2 (I think, or was it season 2 and 3?). She needed to stay "Ugly" Betty for the underdog panache and angst to work.

Start praying Amanda and Mark get their own spin-off show. Or at least Amanda.

Re: Ugly Betty: GONE
Although I didn't particularly care about this show, I really appreciate the fact that the network is giving them warning enough to create a finale. I wish it would happen more often but far too few shows get the same courtesy.

but inevitable.
