I was hoping Nikki was going to try and take the gun into the White House and that would be the last we'd see of her.
Poor Ben, he's was one step closer to living the dream, and then gets knee capped by her producer.

^Is it a new Teeny? I thought perhaps she finally grew into her looks but maybe they did recast with a kid less hideous.

I'm not big on the Ben/Margene angle. They've already dealt with this before and she was level headed enough then, even when she was going through all that shit with her mom, to put him in his place in regards to their relationship being nothing but stepmother/son. I get she's lonely and that he was the only one of the family to step up and support her, but I just don't see her crossing that line like a year later. (If even.)
Normally I LOVE everything going on in this show, but this season seems to have a few misteps for me. The Bill running for office thing doesn't make any sense, and now this is added to the mix. It'll make for good drama yeah, but for a show so rich in character development it just doesn't flow right for me.

Yeah, I could've done without the Ben/Margene thing being revisited.
I don't care for Ben, but it was good to see him stand up to JJ in this episode. It'll also be interesting to see what comes of JJ's threat.
I was wondering if Harry Dean Stanton was getting paid for his 'likeness' being used in the episodes this season, and voila, the man himself appears. Nice to see him again.
I don't have a problem with Alby seeing him, as Alby has always been kind of nuts anyway.

Prior to Roman showing up I was telling my wife that I think suicide is really the only way out for Albie at this point. Eventually everything will be found out (awesome idea on the picture there btw Albie!
) and with all the shame/guilt it'll really be his only way out. 10 minutes later, there's Roman's voice telling Albie to kill himself.
Of course Albie's pride could probably never let it happen.
Can anyone explain to me the line of thinking for the Bill running for office storyline? So the guy hides the fact that he's got 3 wives, but only long enough to get elected, then he comes out and says "I know I said this was my family, but actually I have 3 wives and 29 kids. Thanks for your votes!". That'll go well.

I really dislike the Bill running for office storyline. He was already pushing for the casino, can't we deal with the trials of keeping this business together?
I guess their is a them of Bill having too many irons on the stove while relegating his wives to the backburner. First it was Home Plus, then the casino, now running for office.
With all of these ventures, it seems like they would have been "outed" by now.
I have no problems with Albie and his hallucinations...but they'd better follow through. For some reason I thought he was going to try and kill his "partner".

Bill would be at the Compound today, but Roman drove the Henricksons out and Frank drove Bill away. He deep down inside is a compound nut who was forced into the real world. He's a natural cult leader who was forced into mainstream business and politics.
He even compares his State Senate run to Joseph Smith. And he's NOT a prophet?!?
ACTUALLY, in the end Bills life could be interpreted as Gods divine will.
IF Roman never deposes the Heinricksons Frank does not get to throw Bill out as he is in the line of succession.
Bill would take the throne as an insular, compound nut. But instead God throws the compound into chaos so that Bill can learn the way of the world, and how to modernize and bring Juniper Creek into the public eye. Bill triumphantly takes his throne as a man who understands what a 21st century Juniper Creek should be.

Teenie
Can you talk about the decision to recast Teenie, now played by Bella Thorne?
Because our show is structured so tightly, we usually don’t have year-breaks between seasons in show time. We never have time for our characters to age with our actors, which is OK generally. Luckily Wayne, God bless him, hasn’t had a growth spurt yet, knock on wood. He just gets older and older and stays Wayne, you know? But unfortunately our Teenie [Jolean Wejbe] — our cute little pixie — just shot up. By the time she was 13 playing 11, she started to become tall and looked like she was turning into a 15-year-old.
So what we decided to do was recast. And I think we’ve handled this in a way that is very flawless, so that when Teenie comes home from camp…it’s almost like you don’t even realize that there’s been a change. You kind of get a sense of how Teenie’s changed over the course of her time at camp, and how she’s gone from being this confused girl showing pornography to the neighborhood boys, and comes back as this more controlled, LDS kind of girl. You almost think well, that’s the same actress: Her character’s changed because she’s been away at an LDS camp. It was a very difficult decision to make, and we were afraid that it would bug people. But I feel now that it was the right decision, and it just gives us so many opportunities now to play more of Teenie, and have that character much more active in the life of the series.

Re: Big Love #37 : Strange Bedfellows 1/24/10
I've thought of the show as the best television has to offer for the past three seasons, but this year has just gone completely off the rails for me. The Albie relationship is pure soap opera silliness, while Bill's decision to run for office is terribly short-sighted (it will do little more than expose his family in the most public way possible and ensure the failure of both of the businesses he has built up for the benefit of his family's future), and the rest of the relationships are pure rehashing between Margie-Ben and Frank-Lois. And why the hell are we now dealing with Sarah adopting a meth-head who happened to dart in front of their truck? The only redeeming aspect of the season is the introduction of JJ, but he's virtually powerless in comparison to Roman or Albie and doesn't make a villain so much as an annoyance.
The death of Roman seems to be the death of the series' serious drama. Albie was a fascinating character in his own right in the second season, but as long as he's consumed by self-doubt and fear, he'll never be a match for Bill. This show needs a confident and politically powerful zealot capable of outwitting and overpowering Bill, and right now there's no one who meets those criteria.

This season isn't doing it for me either. Its not like it's bad just not as good as before at least so far. I guess if you have a show that consistently gets better and week after week has it's best episode ever it gonna peak at some point.

When Margene kissed Ben, I seriously contemplated just turning the show off at that point. This season has felt off, and I loved the previous three, but that is almost inexcusable. It's like they brought in completely new writers to "shake things up." Terrible.

Lots of good lines tonight. "Gad darnit! --- sorry, mam." and Nikki calling those girls whores under her breath. There was another really good one but I can't remember it now.

So what about the new compound being built in Kansas with $100 Million?

at Nikki packing heat for the venture onto the subway. How the hell did she get it on the plane?
