I never watch Fallon because I'm not watching TV that late, and Jay has been unwatchable for years. This will actually get me to tune in from time to time - :thumbsup: to the decision!

As far as Ferguson I tend to agree. I love the guy but his humor is too off the wall and he wouldn't be able to get away with half the stuff he does now. I honestly don't even know if he'd want an earlier slot because he wouldn't have the freedom to do what he wants with his show like he does now.

Will Lorne Michaels still do SNL if he produces the Tonight Show or find a way to juggle both jobs or maybe produce the tonight show early and when he sees everything is ok and settled go back to SNL?

What will happen to the brilliant SNL if they lose their head writer (and maybe Lorne, but probably not)? All kidding aside, isn't SNL one of the only "winners" in their lineup, even as far as it's fallen and as much as people gripe about it?

He already produces Fallon correct? Not sure what would change moving over the Tonight Show.

Bill Carter was on the BS Report, and he said that SNL is currently the highest rated NBC program. He went on to say Lorne is pretty much going to have SNL, Late Night and The Tonight Show under his belt, making him one of the powerful figures at NBC.
Speaking of Ferguson, Carter also mentioned that Letterman only does one hour of work. He doesn't go to rehearsals or nothing, puts as little effort as possible. He also does doesn't think Letterman will retire anytime soon, he saw what happened to Carson after he retired and doesn't want to go that route. |

I think Dave has one more extension in him and therefore it's difficult to say who will be viable then. I think Stewart has built his own franchise and will not likely be in the running for any of these shows.
Refusing to move Fallon to Los Angeles will I predict put Tonight in an untenable situation as far as guests go. It should provide a serious booking advantage to Kimmel and Conan. I wouldn't at all be shocked to see that get reversed before the show makes air. |

That topic came up as well in the interview, the most likely scenario is that Late Night will be moving to Los Angeles. Makes no sense to have both the Tonight Show and Late Night at 30 Rock.
I don't think it will be hard for Fallon to get guests on the Tonight Show, he already gets better guests than Conan, I think celebrities like going on Fallon's show because all he does is kiss their ass anyway. So it's more likely he may steal guests from Letterman, since he can be a tough interview. |

The key will be the ratings out of the gate as far as Fallon versus Letterman. If Fallon kisses ass but Dave beats you up yet Dave gets 30% better ratings, most of the people who are required to go pimp a movie will end up on Dave. If they're close to par, Fallon will get the jump on Dave.
ETA: The really bold move if you ask me would be doing something neither NY or LA with Late Night. Late Night from Chicago? San Francisco? IDK. It would probably be a disaster, but I'd appreciate the out of the box thinking. |

Tina Fey was mentioned as a Fallon replacement for 12:30am but she said she was busy with other projects but imagine if she got the job and be the only woman to host a late night talk show though Joan Rivers did it first and bombed in the 80's.

Maybe he was just referring to the Justin Timberlake episode.
Timberlake's 'Saturday Night Live' visit sets 2013 ratings high for NBC But now with The Voice back on, I think that's currently their highest rated show. I don't think any of their scripted shows gets better ratings. |

Carson Daly's show is not bad considering his reputation at MTV and TRL.
Will Carson bolt if he gets replaced by Alec Baldwin :)? I wish Costas would do his late night show again like he did back in the day. |

Man, I loved 'Later' with Costas. I wish NBC would do something with those episodes. I wonder if they'd do anything with their run of Letterman, maybe after he retires?

If you watch the Late Late show, you'd know Ferguson doesn't want Letterman's job. He love his spot and the amount of work it requires. He shows up 2 hours before taping and leave immediately after taping. He said he spends 3 hours a day on work and he loves it. Hence why the segment before the guest come on is always twitt and email time, where he improvs daily. The amount of work require for Letterman's slot is so much more than what he currently does. Besides, he also hinted that he'll do a few more year and leave. He doesn't want to be hosting late late show as a career.

NBC's Plan to Turn 'Late Night' Into a 'Daily Show' Clone For years, there’s been talk of one of the broadcast networks luring Jon Stewart away from Comedy Central to take over as its late night host. But why buy the cow when you can get similar tasting milk for millions of dollars less? That seems to be what NBC is thinking. TV Guide’s Michael Schneider reports that the Comcast CMCSA +0.47%-owned network is considering a major overhaul of its post-primetime lineup to coincide with the handover of “The Tonight Show” from Jay Leno to Jimmy Fallon early next year. Among the scenarios under consideration is (or at least was) an expansion of “Tonight” from 60 minutes to 90 minutes, with “Late Night,” likely hosted by “Saturday Night Live” veteran Seth Meyers, losing a half-hour of its running time to compensate. Schneider elaborates: With both shows in New York, Late Night is expected to de-emphasize multiple celebrity guests in order to prevent booking wars with its Tonight Show sibling. Among the changes, Meyers could adapt “Weekend Update” into a nightly version for Late Night in the vein of The Daily Show, and perhaps interview more newsmakers, politicians and athletes (some of his biggest interests) and fewer stars. In order to trim costs, Late Night might also be produced in a smaller setting, similar to Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live – perhaps with no band, a smaller audience and more reliance on conversation. A half-hour nightly comedy show, driven by jokes about the news and interviews with politicians and other newsmakers, filmed in a small studio without a band. Sound familiar? It would be a lot cheaper than poaching Stewart, who’s under contract until 2015 at a reported salary of $16 million a year. Fallon is expected to earn $8 million to $12 million a year in his new job, and Meyers would almost certainly make somewhat less. In any case, Comedy Central can rest easy-ish in the knowledge that it’s not happening, at least not all of it. The 90-minute “Tonight” idea is said to be off the table for now. |
