What is wrong with these CTU F'up? Jack is a living CTU legend and they continue to give him crap. Of course, there are some young whipper-snappers who don't know Jack (pun intended).

Off to a good start. Really missed Jack. I find it hilarious that no sooner is CTU back do they hire someone with a false identity. And it's still the same old hat with the heads of CTU acting like complete idiots. I love how Jack just walks in there like he owns the place and heads to get the guns.
It was nice to get some resolution on some of the loose ends from last season. Good to know the President's evil daughter is in jail and her worthless husband is divorced. Hoping that this is Kim's only appearance, unless she turns up again in the finale; I don't hate her as much as some (especially since she pulled her weight last season and wasn't running around like a chicken with its head cut off and ditched the shrink), but I don't want to see his family involved again. I hope we get some resolution eventually with the guy that Renee was getting ready to interrogate in the final episode of last season.
stingermck is right...it amazes me that people don't ever just listen to Jack. I mean, when has he ever been wrong? Just listen to him for god's sake and maybe everything would be over in a swift hour.
I was glad Chloe called Jack out though. She has always been there for him no matter what the stakes, and the first time she asks for help he says forget it. I understand he was trying to get out, but still. And to the user who said he didn't like Chloe, start from Season One and watch everything...you'll change your opinion on Chloe.
It's funny how much more organized and efficient the bad guys are than the good guys. If a terrorist organization or shadow conspiracy or whatever wants to kill a political leader or set off a bomb their first step should always be to kill Jack Bauer, no matter where they are planning to kill the target or set off the weapon. If you kill Jack, no one else can stop you.
Loved the axe kill. Great 24 moment.
It looks like Tooms has gained some weight, lol.

Off to a great start. It's more low key than the past few years, which is nice. The chopper was big, but in two episodes Jack only has two victims under his belt. Like everyone else, the axe kill was awesome. That's up there with "I'm gonna need a hacksaw."
So are we to believe "Horace/Tooms" is the person on the inside, or is there someone else? There is certainly no love lost between Hassan and his wife. She could be working with his brother "Lester" to take him out. The writers certainly know how to paint everyone as a suspect.
It's nice to not have family drama on the POTUS plotline... at least not yet.
Also agreed on CTU not listening to Jack. That's as classic as "there's no time!" and moles in CTU. If I was President Taylor I'd ask for Jack on the phone as soon as I heard he was involved. Screw following the proper channels.
Doug Hutchinson is great and perfect as a villain for Jack. I love Lost but for whatever reason when I see him I first think X-Files, then The Green Mile, then Lost.

But...er...so...Chloe didn't know the system well enough to deliver a search result, but she was able to hack it in seconds?

I'm going to go out a limb and say making the entrance into the operational center out of glass will turn out to be a design flaw.

Re: Twenty Four (24) -- Season 8 Premiere -- "4:00pm-6:00pm" -- 01/17/10
- Jack is retired. He's never going back.
- Someone's going to be assassinated and Jack's the only one who knows about it.
- Jack tries to tell CTU but they won't listen.
- The president won't listen.
- Chloe goes behind CTU's back and hacks into their system to find out what's really going on.
- Chloe's has a hunch--but wow, is it thin. Oh! And it's right!
- The bad guys have someone on the inside. High up.
- Everyone we know has had a change in their life that is different from the way we left them last season.
- Someone in CTU has a past they don't want anyone to know about.
- A subplot is introduced that likely has no bearing at all upon the main plot but for some reason it's also coming to a head in this exact same 24 hours.
- Body count increases. A few people die you didn't expect to die. A few are killed in really cool ways.
- Jack has to put his personal life on hold to "do what's right."
- Lots of explanatory dialogue from the White House. Lots.
- Some obvious holes in the plot, some wooden dialogue.
- Jack goes back into the field.
But c'mon! It's 24! It works and it sure is fun TV. I wouldn't miss it.

I didn't watch much of last season, but I think I will try to make it through this season. I've missed Jack. A decent start.

Still amazing! for me at least
New CTU looks ridonkulously awesome. Drones, digital packages, body scanner, that weird door entrance in the interrogation room. I like that tech dude, funny.
No Renee, damn..haha
Everytime Kim and Jack had a scene, I was still mesmerized by the fact that I've been watching this show since 2002 and it's still emotionally powerful.
that RPG was siiiiiick! as well as the ax!

You won't catch shit here. I've been watching from the start and I find her to be one of the most annoying television characters ever. Her acting is shit and the moaning is distracting. If you plan on watching past seasons, just be ready for more stupid fucking facial expressions.

Brian Hastings has to be one of the bigggest blockheads in the history of the show. I think he overtakes Erin Driscoll in the idiotic department. He won't even listen to the guy who saved David Palmer's life, took down Charles Logan and saved Allison Taylor's life. I like Mykelti Williamson, but man this character is a major douche.
Overall I enjoyed the 2 hours. I agree that hour 1 was a little more entertaining than hour 2. The axe to the chest was so badass. It's too bad that Benito Martinez was done after the 1st episode. The rocket launcher that destroyed the chopper was pretty cool also.
I love Jack's grandaughter. Absolutely adorable little girl. I think besides the kickass action and shootouts, the show has always been about the core characters and I think Kiefer's scenes with Elisha are always compelling.
I was surprised to see Paul Wesley from The Vampire Diaries as Kim's husband. I guess he was able to squeeze in these 2 episodes before he moved on to work on TVD fullltime.
Not crazy about the Dana Walsh secret hilllbilly past though. I assume the dude is probably an ex who use to beat her or something and then she left town and changed her identity.

To me it looks like Cole Ortiz idolizes Jack. I'll reserve judgment on his character until he actually starts working with Jack.

Having just watched all seasons of the shield in a matter of weeks, what a treat it was to see Acevada die ! That really seemed like Shield redemption where he didn't die and should have
Solid season opener but the twists seem a bit samey. Same old treacherous brother, same old CTU agent with secrets, same old CTU boss who doesn't listen. still 24 does it the best
I like how Jack's debrief is so short and flippant yet he killed 2 armed gunman with an axe !
