Re: Watch a show as a group?
I'll second Wonderfalls as a 'comedy' choice. :)

Re: Watch a show as a group?
Twin Peaks streaming:
http://www.cbs.com/classics/twin_peaks/ As mentioned, it doesn't seem to have the pilot. I suggest we choose a show where folks can stream ALL the episodes of the season. |
Re: Watch a show as a group?
That's a downer. I personally have no problem acquiring the pilot from other sources, but if it is a problem for others maybe we should take this to a poll.

Re: Watch a show as a group?
Looks like we need to see how many people lie in each group:
- Own the pilot on DVD (2) - Willing to get access to the pilot for DVDTalk TV Rewind (3) - Not willing to get access to the pilot, but willing to read the synopsis - Not willing to get access to the pilot, and not willing to read the synopsis I don't think we need a poll. People can just reply here. If enough people fall into the last category, then I agree that we should go with a different show. ('enough' being, say, 1 of every 4, since there's 4 options?) I'm in the first category. edit: Twin Peaks poll results (shown as bold numbers above) |
Re: Watch a show as a group?
I fall under number 2.
|
Re: Watch a show as a group?
While you Nancies were debating, I acquired and watched the pilot.
|
Re: Watch a show as a group?
I guess you're in category 2 then. ;)
|
Re: Watch a show as a group?
We got the first person who doesn't want to follow the format. :(
|
Re: Watch a show as a group?
I'll acquire it tonight, but I'll wait until the official start date to watch it.

did you get a PM from them? Just checking before I add to the choices.
Since no one is voting perhaps we should start the watching. I don't know if I agree with a Sunday start date though. That's a busy TV night. I would vote Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. |
Re: Watch a show as a group?
Yes, I was just joking ;)

Twin Peaks!
jerk! :)
Wednesday is now a dead day for me in terms of new shows (Glee is done until April), so that works for me. The exact day of the week isn't too important, as long as people are able to watch the episodes each week and comment on them. I'll transcribe the summary of the pilot and include it in our first-week thread in spoiler tags, just in case anyone wants to read it. Yay! This is exciting! Just a few things we should clarify, once again: - Separate threads per week - 1 or 2 episodes per week? Twin Peaks Season 1 only has 8 episodes (including the pilot), so I'm leaning towards one per week. That'll make it easier for everyone, I think. - Who wants to start each thread? If I do it, I can make sure to add some interesting tidbits (log lady intros, if I can find them!) and pictures along the way (like Infidel does in the Glee threads) - When do we start? Do we want to wait until the 30th? I fear that the first week might suck if it starts on the 23rd; 2 days before Christmas. edited to add: or, for the first week, we can start the thread right away to get some exposure and get people interested. Then we can delay the second week until the 30th or 6th. Whatever works. |
Re: Watch a show as a group?
I think one episode per week is a good amount. We can adjust if people start to prefer a faster speed. If you're going to go all out for these threads, than I am more than willing to let you have it. I won't post synopses since I haven't seen the show myself, and wouldn't want to spoil anything. I think we can start it now if you want, and I agree that perhaps the 6th is a good date for the second episode. Perhaps we could start it now, and date it for the 23rd.

Re: Watch a show as a group?
For those who want to watch the pilot legally, but don't want to rent the DVD, pinata will be acting out the whole thing using Barbie dolls and post it on YouTube.

I'll post the first official DVDTalk TV Rewind thread later tonight! |
Re: Watch a show as a group?
Did anything come from the talk of doing a comedy and a drama concurrently?
Wonderfalls, Freaks & Geeks, Undeclared, and Arrested Development all come to mind as things I want to go back through (and already own :)) |
Re: Watch a show as a group?
I'm up for another show, for sure, but I won't keep those threads up to date. TP will be enough work as it is :) Of the four shows you mentioned, I vote for Wonderfalls.
|
Re: Watch a show as a group?
I have no problem with it. Of those, I will throw my vote in for Undeclared, as I have not seen it previously.
|
Re: Watch a show as a group?
I don't think I've ever seen "My So Called Life". That could be another good one since it's short.
|
Re: Watch a show as a group?
I could head up the comedy Rewind thread if there is enough interest to do two shows at the same time. Wonderfalls is an hour right? With Chuck, Lost and 24(and Friday Night Lights?) filling out people's schedules soon it might be better to stick to a 30 minute comedy.
Ideas? Show suggestions? |
