Nice! Can't wait for that!

It seems like IFC does air some movies in full HD, as they are airing Capote in its OAR not stretched.
Also realized i also get now Encore HD, and we're at the Salma Hyack dance with the snake scene in From Dusk Till Dawn

^ Encore is weird with their HD also. They played The Breakfast Club in 4x3 while Starz plays it in 16:9.

I don't know how this is even accomplished, do the studios do both a full OAR of a film in hidef AND a cropped hidef edition too - man! what a waste of time and money.

yeah, almost all movies that air on HBO and Cinemax are aired in a cropped 16x9 format even if its shot in 2:35;1.

What gets me about it is that sometimes they will have a movie on, which is OOP or never been released like The Island(80) and it's cropped. With that film in particular, they show the titles/intro in 2.35:1 but then crop the rest.

if i had to take a guess, its because if they weren't full 2:35, some of the credits would be cut off at the edges, and we know that can't happen, so once all of that is done, they can then crop it to 1:78;1.
