Yeah. And didn't Dexter come into Trinity's room in the middle of the night? But then walked over to the site and it was suddenly light out? Dexter already knew Trinity was an early riser, so he probably should have thought to attack him sooner than just before dawn.

What's funny is that if Dexter had never met the killer, he would be dead by now.

Because they have another 3-4 episodes in this season!!!!

I don't think the son shot Lundy. If you saw the next episode previews you can see why.

When they showed the shooter go through Lundy's wallet, could we tell if it was a guy or girl? I don't remember.

It was the car from the Toxic Avenger.

I never watch the previews of the following episode, so my prediction is based on what's actually aired.

I checked that scene a few times and couldn't tell if it was male or famale. I'm assuming the preview for next week points to a female shooter since you brought it up. If it is, I really really really hope it's not the reporter - that would be dumb. I predicted the son, but I was also thinking any member of the family could've helped Trinity (or all of them)... so if it's a female, it better be the wife or daughter. Anyone but the reporter.

The wife would make for an interesting aspect but then would beg the question of why he tried to commit suicide in the first place.

What exactly do you think goes on in ROTC?

Actually that brief bit with Trinity and his son made me more inclined to believe that the son did it. I could easily see Trinity having domineeringly forced his son to kill Lundy with some intense psychological pressure. That would explain both the height and the sloppiness of the kill as well as his son’s fearful statements to Dexter in the trailer.

This season has been a bit of a letdown so far. Quinn as Doakes isn't nearly as cool as it was 2 seasons ago. Rita is so obnoxious this season, I hope she does something stupid so she goes away. All the subplots this season just seem weak. Maybe it's just me.

Any chance we could keep the discussion of next week's preview in spoiler tags?

Rita goes away and Dexter will be a single serial killer father of 3. Heh heh

I agree that Quinn is not as good as Doakes was and don't really like the fact that they're basically trying to make him into that character but I can live with it I guess. Overall though I think this might be my favorite season so far. Its showing the impact that all the changes that have happened in Dexter's life are having on him. I also really like Lithgow as the Trinity Killer. The main downfalls to me this season are Rita being annoying as all hell and the Batista/Laguerta relationship. Most of the episodes have been pretty strong though if you ask me and I think this season has been better than the third was.

I think Masuka shot Lundy and Deborah.

Clue: The shooter is his height.

Lithgow is doing great as Trinity IMO, and he and Dexter are carrying the show. Rita has worn far too much clothing this season compared to others...I'm just sayin'.

I agree - not a lot of thought went into Dexter's pursuit of the Trinity Killer to the construction site.

Let's say he did catch up with him prior to Arthur's jump. He sedates him with the syringe - and then what? Carry his limp body back to the hotel in daylight? Take him through the lobby back to the kill room, so that there may be dozens of wintesses prior to Arthur's "disappearance"?

And if he did manage to let him drop? On an active contruction site, what are the chances there would be at least one witness? I'm sure the police would want to question him about Arthur's suicide. Wouldn't they find it odd that the blood spatter analyst from Miami just happened to be at the construction site? Wouldn't the Asian couple that called the police be able to identify "Kyle" - as well as the family in the diner?

Too, too sloppy ...

It looks like my original suspect has been shot down, Anton, unless he was always wearing lifts when he was with Deb. Now, it's got to be Arthur's son.

I find it funny that all the discussion/predicting is surrounding a lame subplot. The only way to make the vacation murders a worse plot line would be to make the reporter the killer.

I'm wondering how Trinity will die. I can't see it happening by Dexter's hands, because he is just too close to him and his family now. If anything suspicious happens to him, Dexter would be the first suspect.

Bingo! I'm expecting them to shock us with an ending that they think we're not prepared for. If Trinity were to kill Dexter you could just imagine the aftermath of the whole situation. At first it wouldn't be tied to Trinity at all since Dexter is the only one that knows who he is really is. It would take the media to cause an awareness that Kyle really wasn't who he said he was. And imagine what Trinity might say that he "knows" about Dexter if he were to be asked under interrogation. Imagine the last season to be about finding Dexter and his killer rather than Dexter himself.

I really like that idea and would definitely be in for that. That would take some balls to kill off the title character and have another season. Some BIG balls. The problem with that scenario is that I don't think the supporting characters are strong enough to carry an entire season.

I agree - it could possibly be the boldest thing done on television, but I don't think the supporting characters would be the issue with this move. The biggest problem would be eliminating the whole point of the show - a serial killer trying to fit in with normal people while carrying out his "projects". Without Dexter the show essentially becomes your average crime drama like CSI. If a move like this were to be made, it shouldn't be for a full season - it should happen with 3 or 4 episodes left in the series.

In any case, I think it's safe to say Trinity (and his cohert) will be killed before the season is over, and a whole new story of someone digging up dirt and suspecting something sinister about Dexter (probably Deb going back to her investigation of her father).

There's another Showtime series that did just this---Weeds. The show was originally about a suburban widower who needs to support her 2 kids, so she starts selling a little marijuana. Now it's about a
Spoiler:
Mexican drug lord's wife
who doesn't sell weed, but who tries her hardest to fuck up her kids lives.

I have more faith in the Dexter writers though. :)

How could I forget. Weeds has gone down the shitter since the start of Season 3. I'm sure Dexter would still be decent if they went a whole season without the lead character, but it would probably pale in comparison to previous seasons.

Is Season 5 the last season, or are there plans for more?

Re: Dexter - "Road Kill" - 11/15/09

Or maybe they leave this season on a cliffhanger note and not conclude the "whole" storyline and Dexter is a character in next season. However, at some point he does meet his demise but continues to appear in flashbacks, dreams or nightmares which lead to the discovery of his murder and murderer, his own criminal past and the aftermath of the whole situation. We might even see him in some episodes and not even realize that he is already dead as he doesn't either. I'm not sure that they would even consider taking the show in this direction however, you can see the series starting to wind down. I think that he will be murdered by someone and my original guess was either Rita or Deb with Rita being the most likely.

They've hinted at a big ending to the season finale. I think Deb or Rita find out about Dexter.
