South Park -- "Dances With Smurfs" -- 11/11/09

Dear god please let this do what I think it's going to do...

Episode 1313 Press Release
From the Comedy Central Press Release:
CARTMAN WILL NOT BE SILENCED IN AN ALL-NEW EPISODE OF
"SOUTH PARK" PREMIERING ON WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 11
AT 10:00 P.M. ON COMEDY CENTRAL

NEW YORK, November 9, 2009 – Cartman has a daily forum for his agenda when he is chosen to do the morning announcements in an all-new "South Park" titled, "Dances with Smurfs," premiering on Wednesday, November 11 at 10:00 p.m. on COMEDY CENTRAL.

Eric Cartman seizes the opportunity to become the voice of change at the school when he takes over the morning announcements. His target is South Park Elementary’s Student Body President, Wendy Testaburger. Cartman is asking the tough questions and gaining followers.

Minus the first two minutes, that might be my favorite episode of the season.

That full AVATAR trailer during Glee reminded me of the Smurfs, so this was extra funny when Wendy said she sold her movie rights to James Cameron.

Why haven't people learned not to fuck with Wendy Testaberger yet?

It's kind of eerie just how easily Cartman slipped into the Glenn Beck role.

Now every time I see Glenn Beck, I'm going to see an adult Cartman.

The announcements need to be quick so the students can get on with their work.

Oh really? Then how come Gordon Stoltski got to go on for like five minutes that one day?

Well, because he was being murdered.

I almost hate to admit it, but I laughed.

Was the first half of this episode bashing Alex Jones (conspiracy theorist) or was that stuff related to the Avatar/Smurff ordeal as well ?

Re: South Park -- "Dances With Smurfs" -- 11/11/09

I have to say I was completely lost the whole episode.

I've heard of Avatar but had no idea of the plot. I had no idea this episode had anything at all to do with it until Cartman went to the theater.

I looked it up on Wikipedia and I'm still not sure I understand it.

I just couldn't understand why they just didn't stop Cartman from doing the announcements.

If you registered just for this post and named yourself after South Park, but you still have to explain (in parentheses) who someone is, I don't think most people watching the show know who you're talking about. At least you've set off another google alert!

He called the ACLU. You could see them standing there when he did the next day's announcements.

Re: South Park -- "Dances With Smurfs" -- 11/11/09

Maybe it was because I'm dense or that I was tired and watching the later airing, but I didn't see the end punchline coming. Good stuff.

Thought it would have been funnier if Cartman's Dances with Smurfs film looked cheap, something by an 8 yr old, with Smurf toys, instead of so slick and professional.

Not the best episode this season. Pretty light on laughs for me.
