The Clay/Jax conflict is a copy of a plot line from The Shield which was used towards the end of its run though.

But it's also a copy of a plot line from a play that was around 400 years before The Shield.

Well its relevant because Kurt Sutter worked on both shows.

That might be why this variation on a very old theme is coming out notably differently than the one on The Shield played out. The man probably could have gotten a cop drama greenlit if he really wanted to play out The Shield over and over again. I think he's created something clearly different we should probably not presume he's lifting stories from that show.

I don't see how it's all that different to be honest.

I agree that the prison stuff really seemed rushed. That's fine by me, since SAMCRO locked up isn't all that interesting. It did prompt the Jax/Clay feud to a climax, though. Hopefully they got it out of their systems and - after they lick their wounds - come to a truce.

My wild guess is SAMCRO will catch wind that the Irish are double-crossing them and they'll make a deal by ratting them out.

There have to be consequences for Opie ripping off the drug dealer.

Tara is gradually turning into Gemma. Interesting that Gemma seems to be changing.

I don't think even Jax is ready to give up the Irish, since they are the club's main income source and gun supplier. He could do as he suggested and let the Irish know that the feds are all over Zobelle.

"You ever hear from Kohn? Being a Fed sure is dangerous" (or something to that effect)... real nice finish to that scene.

Not only was it laugh out loud badass awesome, it epitomizes what I love about this show. (With a lot of FX shows actually.) They don't treat me like I haven't been watching. They don't treat me like I'm stupid. There was no recap of the Kohn thing at the front, they don't flashback, you get it or you don't and that's on the viewer not the storyteller. I love that. It's refreshing to see after catching a few episodes of Flash Forward and they recap what I saw 2 minutes ago with a flashback. UGH.

That one line from Jax made me forget all the issues I had with the prison rush job.

Yep. It took me until this episode to remember exactly how Oswald was tied up with SAMCRO as the writers haven't beat us over the head with the implications of the "Fun Town" episode from season one.

Completely agree on the last 2 comments... though I was a bit pissed off when they showed an old Oswald clip in the intro - I thought for sure they were gong to blackmail him again to get out of jail and was pissed that they showed him and I thought tipped the plot point. Turns out I was wrong, but I may have to cut out watching the "previously on..." segments.

I'm OK with showing stuff form the last few shows but when they jump back to an older show I instantly start trying to guess what will happen.

I know of the Shakespeare references but which work are you referring to?
