I don't know if they should keep the Vampire Slayer part. Just call the show "Faith." Apparently Whedon was seriously considering a Faith series after Buffy ended but Dushku had already signed for Tru Calling. The premise was going to be kind of a "Route 66" style with Faith riding a motorbike into a new place each week and dusting baddies.

I doubt it will be Buffy/Angel related, but if it was, it'd be nice to see them somehow incorporate the comics.

I recently watched all of season one of Dollhouse, and this show is perhaps the worst thing Whedon has ever done. For one thing, the premise is awful. Having characters who became "blank slates" doesn't make me care about them, and when they finally do show some of their own personalities, they are thoroughly unlikeable. The world he created is just uninteresting and not a place I want to spend time. Also, the Whedon-isms are on par with his "Do you know what happens to a toad when it's struck by lightning?" line from X-Men. I'm amazed it even got a second season, and I'm pretty sure the only reason it did is because Fox didn't want a Firefly-esque backlash.

Watch it again!

I bet the reason they don't want to cancel while they are still in production is because of what happened with Tru Calling. They halted her show before in the middle of production and they didn't want to do it twice to Eliza.

I will still buy both season. It has been said before but I can't get attached to any characters who personalities change every episode.

No one gives a shit about Eliza. It's a business/monetary decision, as is everything in the entertainment industry.

It's simple: The show isn't outright loosing money and they want something from Whedon. I guess time will only tell what though.

Somehow, even with the latest vampire craze I doubt there will be any Whedonverse characters making a return to television after all this time.

Update: Dollhouse has been cancelled. Not sure if the remaining episodes will air. Can we just get quick Blu-ray release?

Ausiello is reporting they will still burn off the unaired episodes.

As of now, FOX still intends to air the rest of the ordered eps.

All will air. Whedon will likely tweak the final episodes to have a conclusion (working on 11 as we speak). As I said, Fox is getting on Whedons good side (giving the show a real chance).

I should add...the show is NOT canceled. Fox is just not picking up the back 9 for Season 2. Its....possible the show may get a Third season.

I am not kidding.

Re: FOX to air all ordered eps of Dollhouse

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- FOX has passed on ordering additional episodes of "Dollhouse," network sources have confirmed to the site exclusively.

The network however was quick to stress the series hasn't been canceled as they are simply capping its second season at 13 episodes. The show's fate will then ultimately be decided sometime next year.

As previously announced, "Dollhouse" will return with back-to-back episodes on December 4, 11 and 18 before resuming its regular Friday, 9:00/8:00c slot on January 8.

The news comes as FOX preps its midseason schedule, which is expected to be announced soon.

13 episode seasons are a better idea anyway - it forces the creators/writers to tighten the plot and avoids extraneous bullshit.

I like it.

Futon Critic added an update to their story:

[UPDATED: The Hollywood Reporter's story indicates it has indeed been canceled, meaning we were just given the company line of never actually admitting something is canceled. We apologize for any false hope this story may inadvertently generate.]

I don't think any of us can legitimately claim surprise on that one.

Thank you Ernie Anastos. I remember him from the ID4 mock news reports. :)

Anyway yeah, to call this a surprise would be just flat-out stupid.

Why in the world would FOX give a shit about Eliza Dushku's feelings?

Maybe someone in the front office wants to nail her?

in that case the show would be on the air until the deed is done...perhaps the deed was done?
