I also like the deaf girl story, Peter's power inconsistency aside.
I also wish they kept the roommate killer secret a bit longer. I'm kind of hoping they would keep the carnival group a little more morally ambiguous, but I guess they let the cat out of the bag when T-bag killed a family because they wouldn't let a stranger lurk around their barn while they were having a party.
I've been done with Sylar for 2 seasons, so I just can't get into his story lines anymore. How many times are they going to "reform" this psycho?

The best arc they could have done with Sylar was the Noah/Syler good cop bad cop plot. It was pretty interesting yet short-lived.
I wish they had gone a more international route, of the Government embracing the superheroes and having them fight abroad. It would allow for more natural discoveries of people with powers who have to cope with everyday life.
Something to look forward to though is

What is dumb is that Peter touch the deaf lady and got her power but in the previous episode when he shoke hand with T-Bag, he didn't get his power nor Sylar/Nathan's power. It's not like he has a choice if he wants it or not.

He touched Sylar and T-Bag in the previous episode. He didn't accidently take their power like how he accidently took the deaf lady's power in this episode. How is that not inconsistent?

What's the deal with T-Bag and the carnival? Maybe I haven't been paying attention but are they trying to replace somebody? They don't know who the replacement should be or is supposed to be? So if Sylar is the replacement are they done with the whole Claire thing?

Speaking of, why hasn't he just taken Nathan/Sylar's powers and be the ultimate superhero again? I know he can't absorb multiple people anymore but what about multiple powers from a single person? Or was it set up that he could only take one power if he came in contact with Sylar?

Last season's finale indicated Peter could only take one of Sylar's powers. If you recall
I can't explain the inconsistency with Peter absorbing the deaf woman's power. I was thinking that maybe it was because he was using the borrowed power at the time of contact, but last year he was flying other heroes around.

^ that's right, thanks for the refresher. The one cool thing about the finale and I forgot it.
Also he wasn't actively using his speed at the time of transfer. They made it a point to show him holding her arm in the alley. But, yeah, that wouldn't matter since he's flown people around and such and not accidentally taken a power.
I think the only time he inadvertently took a power was on the plane when he took Mohinder's strength, but that was the first time this 'one power at a time' bit started.

I'm pretty excited about the rest of this season. Maybe they'll manage to do something half as good as season 1 and we'll be happy.

I'd thought one of them said something about trying to fill the one vacant seat at the "family's table" or something like that, and that there was a discussion about which one of the ones they were trying to recruit that it might be. I was under the impression it would just be one person, but who knows.

There must be some mind-control power going on because otherwise, how does she infiltrate a sorority and not raise any alarms amongst the sisters? I got the idea the carnival moves around alot, so I can't see Vanessa just going off to college, independent of any future wrangling that Claire will be there. Plus, Vanessa is one cold-blooded person, just shoving someone to their death without batting an eye. I hate it with they write characters as simple plot devices and not as a real person with their own set of motivations and interests.

I don't think this is an inconsistency, actually. I'd argue that Peter can control his absorption ability, but he's not always in control of it. It's like stifling a yawn or a sneeze...I can do it, but sometimes one slinks by me, or I do it without thinking about it.

This is what I was thinking as well. Good analogy.

We know Sylar desperately wants a family but he is not a team player at all. I see this all going bad for the carney folk.

for the Girls Gone Wild episode.
