ESPN Classic ...do you pay for this channel?

I have Direct TV and I could have sworn I used to have this channel. When I go to it, it says "Channel not purchased". I have ESPN, ESPN2, & ESPN News.

Is this really a premuim channel that you have to pay extra for? What is your service and do you pay for it?

You did used to have it. They swapped ESPNU and ESPN Classic between Choice and the sportpack. You should get ESPNU now.

I used to have it on Comcast, and then they moved it to a premium sports package. It was the only ESPN channel I liked too.

It's mostly old WSOP events nowadays.

Unfortunately, it is carrying some live horse races I'd like to see tomorrow.

The trade with ESPNU was much welcomed though.

No, it's on a seperate pay-sports tier with Charter in my area, and I don't pay for that.

Actually, they sometimes carry live college football when there are too many games between ESPN/ESPN2/ABC/ESPNU. Sometimes they also carry games that aren't on ESPN360.

The good news with Classic is that if you're really curious you can use the "internet" to find out who won.

I have cable and it comes with it ... I have no desire for ESPNU, so I hope they don't switch it out ... I wouldn't pay extra for it, but I do like some of the "alternate" programming (movies, etc.) ... I would, however, pay extra for "The Ocho" ESPN 8!

Re: ESPN Classic ...do you pay for this channel?

other then an occasional live event is there a point to espn classic.

What is the programming, who watches that stuff.

The 4 major sports have their own channels and show the classic games there.
I guess if I want to watch the old American Gladiators, poker and awa wrestling for 18 hours a day then this a good channel.

Re: ESPN Classic ...do you pay for this channel?

Dish Network pulled the same bullshit March 30. Now, I have to buy the Multi-Sport package to get ESPN Classic, even though every other channel in that package is already included in my Everything pack. According to Dish, this is ESPN's fault for wanting more exposure for their ESPNU channel. Well, whatever. They can go both fuck themselves.

Re: ESPN Classic ...do you pay for this channel?

I don't think I watch it often, but because of other channels that I want, I also have to pay for it on my sports tier.

PS-Oh and you're NOT ALLOWED to not pay for at least one tier. So I can't call up and say, "I don't watch any of these channels, so please don't charge me." I have to pay for one. That part angers me.

Re: ESPN Classic ...do you pay for this channel?

I used to watch the old AWA and UWF shows and loved the NBA marathons they have before the season starts and during the All-Star games. Again, I'm pissed because I'm missing a channel that I use to watch but there is no way I'm paying $5.99 for one channel. Those who made the decision can go fuck themselves.
