Really liked this episode even if the inevitable twist was a bit telegraphed.
And while cheesy: "whoever killed her also murdered the English language" had me laughing.
But who won the bet?

Fillion is the best and really makes this show a blast. The dialogue is fun and sharp and the cast is really likeable. (I heard that Fillion and Katic hate each other in real life or something though
) I've really grown to love this show and look forward to it each week, always puts a smile on my face.

(edit: I hadn't seen that Ausiello blind item, which certainly does not fit for Castle at all)

I was in Borders yesterday and saw a Richard Castle novel: Heat Wave. It seemed interesting at first, but there was a big photo of Fillion on the back and it seemed a bit contrived, so I left it (also due to the $20 price tag). I'm still trying to figure out who actually wrote the book. I'm thinking it was probably the writers for the show, but there is no indication of that.

Seemed a bit contrived?
The whole idea is that Fillion IS Castle, so of course he would be on the cover - that's the fun of it!
I understand why the price tag of the book might turn you off of it, but otherwise it's almost like you're criticizing just for the sake of criticizing.

Also, the book is $10-12 at Amazon and Costco, or in Kindle version, no need to pay $20 for it. And it's an enjoyable read so far, I hope they release one every year as the book the character "writes" in the show.

Finished watching this today. It was a pretty standard plot. Nothing special. Although Beckett kind of mentioned her mother's case in passing to Castle. The whole bet thing was amusing.
I did like the scene where Castle almost freaked out when his Mom was "rehearsing" with his daughter.

The book is based off the series. I'm about 1/4 into it (stupid work interfering with my reading time!) and while technically the plot of the book is simply the plot of the novel that Richard Castle writes during the show, the actual occurrences in the book are very close to what occurs in the TV series. Even the characters, although they have different names, read like the TV characters they are "based" off of.
Also, the book is $10-12 at Amazon and Costco, or in Kindle version, no need to pay $20 for it. And it's an enjoyable read so far, I hope they release one every year as the book the character "writes" in the show.

I love the daughter on the show. She reminds of Julie on DH. So calm and level headed to be so young. I always tend to lean more towards sensible characters like this.

Another great episode. I loved all of the quick glances at the office while people were trying to take bets.
Castle staring at "the girls"...twice!
You could tell Castle wanted to say something when she brought up her mom's case, but he let it pass.
It seemed like the two other helpers (forget their names) had a more central role this week. I thought it helps add depth to the show instead of just focusing on Beckett and Castle.
I probably haven't watched enough procerdural/crime shows, because I didn't see the twist coming until the end. <shrug>
