Eastwick -- New Series -- Premieres 9/23/09

Eastwick

Synopsis:

Spoiler:

In the series opener, three New England women (Rebecca Romijn, Lindsay Price, Jaime Ray Newman) make a wish for their lives to change. The mysterious Darryl Van Horne (Paul Gross) then arrives in town and helps them discover their untapped powers. Based on John Updike's novel and the 1987 film "The Witches of Eastwick."

I think this one could either be horrible, or could be a sleeper. I'm kinda interested in checking this one out. It helps that the 3 leads are quite attractive.

I love Lindsay Price. I will watch it just for her. Havent seen much of Paul Gross since Due South.

I like Lindsay too. She looks quite like a naughty librarian with those glasses.

This is up against Jay and CSI: NY. I think it has a decent shot of 2nd place, but I haven't heard too much pre-show buzz about this.

I predict it will be off the air by mid-season, but that's just me. I was completely unaware until last week.

So Romjin is not going back to Ugly Betty? At least, not until after this show tanks?

What the hell is up with Romijn in that picture? Is that the way she looks now? Yikes!

So are you saying Gary Unmarried is as good as cancelled then?

I'm still amazed it got renewed. They are completely retooling it though, making the kind of changes you don't normally see in a sitcom.

I was also shocked by the Gary Unmarried's second season appearance.

Set this to record the premiere. We'll see. Nothing else watchable at 10 tonight, so I'll give it a shot. I dont really expect too much.

I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Has a real "Desperate Housewives" vibe. I liked DH's first season. So I'll add this to the weekly schedule.

Yeah, I wasn't that sure about this one but it was pretty decent. Had some real laughs too. "I burnt my boob" got a hearty chuckle.

Definitely Desperate Housewives meets Charmed. I like Lindsay Price (although her nostrils looked large and skeletal last night - maybe they always have and I just didn't notice before) and think Paul Gross is pretty damn good (it's against the law in Canada to say anything bad about Paul Gross).... some moments made me roll my eyes but I'll stick with it for a while.

I enjoyed it also. So are we supposed to believe that Darryl has returned to Eastwick after the events that transpired in The Witches of Eastwick?

ABC is notorious of pulling the plug quickly on 1 hour dramas that start off poorly. dont see this trend changing with this show. also, the christian slater show is a candidate for a quick pull as well.

Shows like gary unmarried survive because they're cheap to produce and get modest ratings (similar to the Jim Belushi show).

Well it didn't start poorly. It finished 2nd in the timeslot.

Well 2nd place in a field of 3 networks isn't necessarily impressive, especially when the 3rd place show is Jay Leno. Eastwick got 8.53 million viewers -- which isn't terrible but isn't fantastic, either... especially considering it was coming off the 11.44 million viewers of Cougar Town (which had tougher competition).

I tried but I couldn't stay with it because it was too corny. I ditched after "D" or whatever his name showed up and summoned the blue chick from X-men. I ended up playing XBOX.

I will say I've always dug the Asian chick because I think she's gorgeous and i used to see her on "Becker". But even that won't save the show for me.

I just don't know how they plan on sustaining the premise, but it might be fun, though I was already getting tired of the quick flashes of dreams/nightmares to promote action on the show.

Have you seen her in her birthday suit (somewhat NSFW)?

I remember her from 90210 and she never seems to age.

ABC should have put this in the Forgotten's time-slot because Eastwick seems like it would better capture the post-Dancing with the Stars audience.

Not really good, but I'm a big Paul Gross fan going back all the way to Tales of the City .... and it's great to see Matt Dallas (Kyle XY) back on a series.

I's be surprised if this lasts the season.
