Can somebody explain to me how Liz thinks keeping Tracey around is going to benefit her? Is she just stupid? For that matter ... are they all just stupid to let Mo go down like that?

On the other hand, I don't think that Tracey is quite the evil mastermind that she is being portrayed as ... I think she is an incredibly naive person who is having an incredible run of luck that is giving her power she has never had in her life.

Re: Biggest Loser Season 8 Thread

This is the first season that I have actually watched the Biggest Loser. Has there always been this much drama? It is all just so laughably bad that it makes me think I am watching a bad soap opera at times. I have only seen five episodes and I am already getting tired of it.

I knew that Tracey was an idiot right from the beginning of the first episode. They have that mile long race, and she starts out running as fast as possible because she wants to win. She actually even says that she wanted to beat Daniel. Nevermind the fact that she has probably never exercised a day in her life before this, and Daniel has been exercising since last season and lost over a hundred pounds and therefore literally has a year's headstart. She still thinks that she can beat him. What a moron. As soon as she started running full steam at the beginning, I knew that she probably wasn't even going to make it to the finish line. Sure enough she proved me right when she fell over half dead.

Re: Biggest Loser Season 8 Thread

The show has not always been dramatically over-produced. I think that really started 2 seasons ago (it was really bad that season). There was a significant amount of backlash so they backed off of it last year. Yes, they are trying to market a product, so there is always some level of the "soap opera" invovled.

I think a lot depends on the contestants. Last season there wasn't really anybody to "hate." The eventual winner did hit a spell where she was becoming unlikeable, but they actually worked that into the show ... One of the trainers (Jillian) actually confronted her with the fact that she was becoming too obsessive and worked with her to back it down a notch.

Even this year I don't find myself "hating" Tracey ... I'm starting to hate the people around her for letting her get away with it. I know they can't control random chance games, but why the hell did they not kick her to the curb when they had the chance? Like I said, I don't think she is an evil mastermind or even really manipulative (the lady 2 seasons ago was!) ... I think she is just an idiot making bad choices and the show is playing them up.

Anyone watch tonight?

Did they not show Shay's..."where are they now" segment??? Any idea why?

Thanks!

Guess they wanted to give you a reason tune in to the Jay Leno show to watch her and Daniel's appearance. I did just to see how they looked and they looked pretty good, considering where they both started out at. I think Shay lost 50 lbs more since she left the ranch.

That was a crazy weigh in with Shay putting up a big number to begin with but still ended up going below the yellow line. I think Amanda should have been the one going home, for she really has put up some weak numbers and Shay really needed to be there more. Bob and Jill are going to be pissed when they find out.

Daniel had a nice run, but I had feeling he was going to be the one going below the red line, for he hasn't really been consistent at all with his weight loss. It just so awesome though to see where he is at in his life now.

It was so sad seeing Daniels partner from last season David having major issues with his weight. It looks like he's just as heavy or even heavier. But I have to say he has lot of nerve to put himself out there like that on national televison or he got paid some money to do it.

I'm really glad Shay is gone. She was a whiner, which I could deal with, but she also had this entitlement streak about her. I hate the "X needs to be here" line. They all went to the ranch fat, so they all need to be there. Just because someone is further along doesn't diminish that they've put their life on hold to be at the ranch.

If it is so important for everyone to stay on the ranch they could do like the Ultimate Fighter and keep people on the ranch to continue to work out (if they wanted to) after they get voted out, even if they had no chance of winning the money. You could even move the people voted out into a seperate house, in some barracks to keep them isolated from the players still playing the game. Bob and Jillian could keep training them after the other contestants are done.

Yeah, glad Shay is gone as well... Sorry with as big as she was, the fat should have been pouring off her like Rudy. And her bitching and moaning was just too ridiculous.

Re: Biggest Loser Season 8 Thread

I think Shay was starting to hit that point ... for whatever reason (metabolism, emotional) it took her longer to get the "fat burning engines" fired up. Being the largest person their, I'm sure her body was not going to react near as quick as everybody else's. Sending her home was utterly ignorant on many levels ... I do put some stuck into the "X needs to be here more than Y" argument; but even if you are "playing the game" her weigh-in showed she should be less of a threat ... she dropped the most weight (tied) and still posted one of the lowest percentages. She may continue to drop big totals, but the percentages never would have been there.

As for Daniel's previous partner ... somebody said he still had issues with his weight ... man, he just flat out still has issues (way beyond his weight). "Oh,, yeah, yeah. When I'm ready I'll be ready and it will just happen. Thanks, no, the time will come." It's sad that he went on the show in the first place when somebody who really wanted to be there could have gone instead.

So glad Shay is gone.. She made the show almost unbearable with all her whining.. Yea, she needed to be there more than anyone and yea they should have kept her.. But maybe she was getting on everyone's nerves in the house as much as the people watching..

During the challenge with her crying to Rudy "I persevere everyday! EVERYDAY!!" Wah wah.. Persevere at home now...

I would have preferred to see Amanda gone....she never really lost any big numbers, and although Shay was whiny, I still think she deserved to stay there.

And what's the deal with Allen even being on the show? I never thought he was even that big.

wow, rebecca looks awesome! smart of rudy to vote her off, because it's getting to the point where you HAVE to play the game, and she could have won it all if she stayed.

but she's dating DANIEL now!?!? no no no no no no no!!! oof.

she was on leno following the show and mentioned it then.

Well I always thought Rebecca was pretty cute, and looks pretty good now (although I don't like the shorter hair)... My issue with Rudy is he's full of shit why he voted her off. It wasnt because he couldnt trust her, but because she was a bigger threat. Next week Amanda will be off because there is no way she will be able to drop a huge number after a 9 pound loss this week.

I couldn't stand Rebecca and i don't think she's an attractive person even with the weight loss

I want Alan, Liz or Danny to win

That was crazy, watched the two women get up there and thought 16 pounds, that's not too shabby given their size. 8 pounds a month is a pretty damn good pace at home.

Then Danny gets on the scale. Holy hell, 59 pounds in two months?!?!?!? Seems like it's between Danny and Rudy to take the big prize, don't see how either of those women is going to touch their percentages for the whole season.

I actually thought Danny looked awful last night - like a deflated balloon. His face was all gaunt, and he had all that saggy skin and man-boobs while he ran. I think he might have overdone it a bit.

Rudy lost less weight but looked a lot healthier.

boredsilly 12-02-09 03:26 PM

Re: Biggest Loser Season 8 Thread

I think that could be because Danny is older than Rudy. His skin might not be able to snap back like some of the younger contestants, even though they all have to have loose skin issues. If you notice, after a certain point in the season, the contestants don't have to take off their shirts anymore. I'm sure that's just to cover up the saggy skin.

I enjoy watching this show, but I always get bored towards the end with all the "feel good" stuff.

surely Liz will be voted into the finale ?

I don't dislike Amanda but prefer Liz to be there

Danny will need surgery to get rid of that loose skin

I am not much of an Amanda fan, but I cannot stand Liz! All her talk about being one foot in the grave and a granny, and she is only 49 years old!

Plus her obsession with Danny really skeeves me out. It annoyed me how they had to run the marathon together. It seemed like if they had kept their own pace, they each would have finished far sooner than the 8 hours or whatever it took them. I know they gave each other support, rah rah rah, but it seemed like Danny held back in the beginning to stick with Liz and then later on she had to hold herself back to let him keep up.

I think Amanda gets voted in, I'm with Jadzia, Liz rubs me the wrong way.
