Re: Jay Leno - Shows, Projects, and News
I did search and this was the only thread I found for Jay Leno who has filed for a conservatorship for his wife Mavis as she's been diagnosed with Alzheimers disease. Heartbreaking news.

As much as I grew to hate Jay Leno after the Conan debacle this was definitely a classy move by him and shows that unlike most Hollywood relationships he actually does love and care for his wife after 30 years. Kudos to him and best wishes for them both.

Re: Jay Leno - Shows, Projects, and News
Is he in trouble with the mob?
https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/...163513010.html

Jay Leno dismissed tabloid speculation that he has a massive gambling debt to the mob following a series of increasingly bizarre injuries that he suffered in recent years.
In November, Leno was spotted in public with severe bruising to his face and an eye patch after an incident where he fell down while descending a 60-foot hill outside a Hampton Inn hotel in Pennsylvania. Leno also suffered a broken wrist and a lost fingernail following that accident.
Two years earlier, Leno suffered significant burns to his face after a gas fire, which he blamed on an attempt to declog a fuel line on his 1907 White Steam Car in his garage. Leno had to undergo skin grafting procedures to tend to his face, chest, and hand burns.
The incidents involving the accident-prone Leno led to unfounded rumors that something more nefarious was afoot, which Bill Maher broached to Leno when the former Tonight Show host was a guest on the Club Random podcast.
“It’s a conspiracy theory since you’ve had three accidents that you actually have gambling debts and you’re being beaten up by the mob,” Maher said to Leno.
Leno reasoned, “I love the idea that the mob would drive to Greenberg, Pennsylvania, wait outside the Hampton Inn on a kind of sleety, rainy day to throw me down a hill.”
Maher then clarified that, according to the tabloid buzz, the hill-tossing was just a “cover story,” and that “they just beat you like the mob always does.” Maher then pointed to another Leno accident — after the gas fire, and before the hill fall — where Leno “fell off his motorcycle, wink wink.”

Re: Jay Leno - Shows, Projects, and News
He's old. Old people are prone to accidents and bruising at the slightest bump.
My mom is dealing with the same thing. She bumps into furniture even the slightest bit she gets massive bruising. My dad (same age as leno) is dealing with falling. He tripped up his front porch steps on Christmas and slammed his head into the front door getting a nasty gash/wound. He fell last year by losing his footing on the edge of a sidewalk. Fell and broke a couple ribs.
These are two people that had zero issues a couple years ago. Turning 70 seems to be the common denominator, which could also be Jay's issue.

Jay famously banked all the money he was paid for hosting The Tonight Show and lived on the money he made while still doing stand-up. How could he have gambling debts?

Yeah. There is zero chance this is true. He has to be worth hundreds of millions. No way we don't hear about gambling stuff

Dude has NEVER spent the night in Vegas, despite playing there all the time. He flies home every night after his show. Weirdest quirk I've ever heard. Normally I'd say nothing is impossible and you don't really know this celebrity, but here I'd say there is ZERO chance he's a compulsive gambler because he won't even sleep in a Vegas hotel room.

Not a big Leno fan but that’s ridiculous to even suggest. He seems like a pretty clean cut guy who just has had some clumsy moments in his older age. Shit happens.

Bill Maher brought it and was probably joking but yeah with all of his wealth and no affinity for gambling the mob ties are not there though hope he is not losing his marbles at his age

Re: Jay Leno - Shows, Projects, and News
He might have a law named after him in California.
"Leno's Law" (a.k.a. California Senate Bill 712) was amended on March 24, 2025, so that eligible collector cars—those 35 years or older—don't need to have collector-car insurance to be exempted from the state's smog rules. The bill has also been revised so that eligible vehicles will never have to pass a smog test after you sell or buy a car that's 35 years or older. California Senate Bill 712, set to go before the state's transportation committee next month, aims to provide a smog-testing exemption for cars built in 1990 and earlier. Originally, the bill stipulated that it couldn't just be any daily driver but a vehicle insured as a collector car.
However, that language has since been omitted. Also, one of the biggest names in California car collection has put his weight behind the issue. In fact, SB-712 has picked up the nickname “Leno's Law,” as Jay Leno has been outspoken about the need to relax emissions regulations for classic cars.
California already had such an exemption in place back when Arnold Schwarzenegger was governor, a rolling 30-year exemption for older cars. This was pushed to the current pre-1976 regulation in 2005.
The average age of a car in the United States is between 12 and 14 years old, so cars that are more than 30 years old are only a small segment of what's on the road. A vehicle that's at least 35 years old is already exempt from certain portions of the existing emissions test; the proposed bill just extends things to full exemption.

Good for Jay Leno. Why should the super rich have to pass emission tests like the poors ?
Id say it makes me think less of him but it’s Jay Leno so ….

He's 75 with no heirs. The whole collection of 350 vehicles is going to end being the Jay Leno Automotive Museum, and his wealth will be applied to maintaining it.
One of the things I've learned to accept is that people are free to care about what they want to care about, and spend their money how they want.
But from my personal perspective, it all just seems like a huge waste.

This is going to sound like I'm way more invested in this than I am but no the fact that Jay Leno didn't have any kids and loves his old cars isn't a reason to exclude rich people's (wont just be Jay Leno even if they name the law after his fucking stupid ass) luxury cars from getting their emissions checked. That's crazy.

It may seem like a waste to us normies but him collecting cars for him might be like collecting movies or action figures to us.
Made him happy and that’s all that matters.

No and i don’t know why some people here think that what im “Upset” about is that he spends his money on cars. Its not. It’s rich people not having to follow the environmental laws we have in place. I couldn’t care less what Jay Leno collects if it doesn’t impact the planet.

Re: Jay Leno - Shows, Projects, and News
I doubt it's much benefit to the super rich, but more to middle-class and lower guys who can buy and sell their old Mustangs and Trans-Ams that they maintain without too much red tape. You were already exempt if your car was insured as a "collector car" (which probably means high premiums), so that wouldn't have been much of an obstacle to the super wealthy like Leno.

Yeah in the scheme of things (whether it’s the planet’s downfall or reasons to hate Jay Leno) it doesn’t really matter all that much.
