I imagine Leno would get on stage wrapped up like a mummy and propped up on a furniture dolly to make a gig.

He "performed" at a Vegas charity event I attended. Man he was awful. It was so embarrassing. This was a rock/pop crowd and probably not in the mood for middle America inoffensive jokes, but still. I have no idea what kind of a crowd he draws but I am just baffled how he gets a paying audience at all.

Re: Jay Leno - Shows, Projects, and News

I've had 2nd and 3rd degree burns on over half my forearm. Grease, cooking explosion back in 2014.

Showering with that injury was awful. It took about a month to heal with proper bandaging and ointment, twice daily.

Yes, the 2 week timeframe seems optimistic. Oddly, I went to work the next day (why did I do that?), but I work in a cubicle. Not on stage.

However, my scar is quite epic haha I kind of like it now.

Re: Jay Leno - Shows, Projects, and News

I kid you not. About a month ago I woke up with a weird dream that Jay Leno had died from an accident in his garage. No idea where it came from because I don't watch any of his shows and hadn't been reading anything about him. It bothered me enough to check the news. As serious as this was I'm glad it wasn't like my dream.

I saw him in the mid 80's at a college campus show and he killed it in front of the mostly college student crowd telling those same sort of jokes. I haven't been to a ton of comedy shows, but other than Sam Kinison it was the best show I've attended in person. (a Mitch Hedberg show is just behind Jay's for reference)

Hope he is doing ok and recovers quickly.

In the minority but I like the Tonight Show more with Fallon as the host though I never disliked Leno and still preferred him over Letterman and he won the ratings war against Dave.

Even David Letterman himself has said that Jay was the funniest comedian working in the late 70s and early 80s.

Watching Letterman in the 80's Jay was always one of the best guests. I remember he'd come out with a wrapped sandwich in hand and just kill it.

The TMZ report mentioned surgeries for 2nd and possibly 3rd degree burns and even with that Jay was giving out cookies to children at the hospital. Pretty great.

Dave opened the door for Jay's TV career.

Johnny Carson didn't want anything to do with Jay in the 80s until Dave made Jay a regular guest, and Jay's popularity with young viewers soared. It was after that (and Joan Rivers move to FOX) that Jay was invited into the mix as a Tonight Show guest host.

Then, Jay did one of the cleverest things in show business history. All the other rotating guest hosts banded together and demanded more money from Carson for their services. Jay didn't join the group. As a result, all the other hosts were dumped and Jay became the sole permanent guest host, once a week and when Carson was on vacation. And the rest is history.

Jay Leno details how his 'face caught on fire' in first interview since accident | CNN

Jay Leno has opened up for the first time about the accident that left him with severe burns to his face and body.

In an interview with Hoda Kotb from “Today,” his first since the November 12 incident, the comedian, 72, said he was working underneath an antique 1907 car alongside his friend Dave Killackey when a series of events led to his injuries.

“The fuel line was clogged so I was underneath it. It sounded clogged and I said, ‘Blow some air through the line,’ and so he did,” Leno, an avid car collector, recalled to Kotb. “And suddenly, boom, I got a face full of gas. And then the pilot light jumped and my face caught on fire.”

The “Jay Leno’s Garage” star said he told Killackey, “Dave, I’m on fire,” to which his friend at first simply responded, “All right.”

“I said, ‘No, Dave, I’m on fire.’ And then, ‘Oh, my God,’” Leno added. “Dave, my friend, pulled me out and jumped on top of me and kind of smothered the fire.”

Re: Jay Leno - Shows, Projects, and News

I just watched the full interview and man, Leno does seem to be a tough old bird who had the mental fortitude to get past the pain and get better sooner than later and I am so glad that he is back to doing what he loves. Also, fascinating that probably due to adrenaline his body was pumped up enough that he was able to drive while burned and for a brief period of time seemed to think he could function just fine without going to the hospital. Further proof the body is an amazing thing and seemingly so fragile yet so tough at the same time.

Re: Jay Leno - Shows, Projects, and News

Leno did a long form interview on Adam Carolla’s podcast about a week ago. He told the story there, and went on to talk about what happened after, like how he didn’t want to stay in the hospital the night after it happened because it might worry his wife (making it seem more serious). But then waking up with his face stuck to his pillow the next morning changed his mind. Also how he didn’t see a need for painkillers even though they were offered repeatedly. His whole take on what happened is pretty much what you would expect from Jay Leno, as in the exact opposite of what you would expect from a typical Hollywood type.

I watched the Carolla Podcast with Leno on YouTube, and it was a great interview. He spent a ton of time with Leno.

Re: Jay Leno - Shows, Projects, and News

Jay Leno involved in another accident, this time getting clothes-lined while on his motorcycle breaking ribs, collarbone, and kneecaps. Also his show Jay's Garage has been cancelled by CNBC.

First he gets torched, then this freak motorcycle accident. Is he now living a Final Destination movie?

Oy, that's crazy so soon after the fire incident.

Time for metal replacements. We can build a bigger, better Leno.

No a banner moment for the poor guy. At some point, if it was me, I would be wondering if the universe was trying to speak to me. Hope he has a full recovery, I'm not a fan but he seems to have a good heart. I've always low-key been mad he beat out Letterman for the Tonight show.

Jay Leno criticised for "terrible" Jeremy Renner joke (nme.com)Jay Leno has been criticised for making a “terrible” joke about Jeremy Renner‘s near-fatal snowplow accident.

The comic, who’s been involved in two accidents in the past few months himself, seemed to be trying to make light of his most recent injuries. Tweeting a joke about his January motorcycle accident on Friday (January 27), Leno referenced Renner’s accident.

The comic tweeted: “I was riding my motorcycle up in Lake Tahoe and I came around the corner and bam, I crashed into Jeremy Renner’s snowplow.”

That is a terribly lame joke but also not something to be up in arms about.
