I do look quite a bit like him in real life. I wonder if he needs a stand-in.

You mean, just like Lost takes place in a simulated Pacific island aboard some giant spacecraft and there's like wormholes and time travel, Mad Men takes place in a simulated 60s environment aboard some giant spacecraft and there's like wormholes and time travel?

Coolio!!!!!!

I'm pleased to see the full episode is now up on the AMC site. I really didn't think they would make it available as they are selling it on itunes. Hope they continue.

They were not memories, just re-enactments based upon what he knows of the story

Or do you think he has memories of a still born baby from years before he was born?

BTW, Love how he got the name Dick!

I agree she was never a stick but her butt has attained truly epic proportions.
If you want to see her looking fine she was in a couple of episodes of Firefly and she played the seductress perfectly.

I was actually wondering about that. How long has the word dick been associated with penis? Would someone in the 1920's use it that way? I always assumed it was a recent thing.

I guess Religious groups are upset because of the bellboy scene in the last episode.
Funny, that they are upset about this but not about the rape last year or the bed hopping that happens in every episode with Don.

Do you have a link for this? I'm curious to know what their problem is with it, aside from the gay kissing, which is hardly a new thing on TV anymore.

I couldn't find anything via Google News, but it is being discussed heatedly over at AMC's message boards for the show.

An article in the Wall Street Journal said that when the scene with Sal and the bellboy played on the big screen in Times Square, the crowd cheered.

I had the same thought.

to the authenticity on the Baltimore trip: staying at The Belvedere and dining at Hausner's (which closed in the 90s). And I bet a lot of people here can't remember when you could smoke on planes.

Looking foward to the Accounts competition.

Those Mad Men wallpapers rock!

Enjoyed the show quite a bit. My favorite part was when Don asked Sal on the airplane about the ad campaign. It was so subtle and yet direct. The writing on the show is so impressive.

Only have to make it through 2 more episodes before my cable company gets AMC HD. Can't come soon enough.

Re: Mad Men --> Season 3 Discussion Thread --> Premieres 8/16/09

I just realized that the reason why Don said it was his birthday was because it really was Dick's birthday - and that is why he was imagining the circumstances of his birth in the beginning. I did not catch that at first.

Any guesses as to products we'll see in advertising campaigns? I'm guessing pantyhose at some point. The women on the show clearly wear stockings and garters (and I love it) but they were a thing of the past by the late sixties. Any other predictions?

Here's tonight's sneak peek:

Spoiler:
Betty gets a visit from her father. Sterling Cooper grapples with a very specific client request. Roger makes arrangements for a wedding. Peggy becomes personally affected by a campaign.

I'm all for having a new thread for each episode.

Definitely think a weekly thread is a great idea...
