Mad Men/AMC scheduling question
Now that I'm all caught up on season 1 and 2 of Mad Men, I'm looking forward to the new season on Sunday. Problem is, my cable company won't be adding AMC HD until September 5, so I'll miss the first few episodes. I'd hate to have to watch them letterboxed on the 'normal' AMC channel. So my question for those who watched the first 2 seasons live...do they ever repeat the episodes later on? I know a lot of cable channels run the same episodes over and over, but I can't say I've ever watched AMC. Like, would they rerun the first few episodes during the week of episode 4 or 5? I'm guessing they probably don't, but I figured it was worth checking.

If I remember correctly they do replay them throughout the week.
But in my opinion if you are really excited about it, having to watch one episode in SD isn't the end of the world.

Time Warner doesn't have AMC HD either, I'll be waiting until it comes to Bluray.

i don't know what this tiny box you speak of is, but i loved the hell out of the first two seasons watching on a 27" Sony when it originally aired. and now even more so rewatching on SD-DVD. a great show is a great show whether it is HD or fuzzy black and white.

I can say this - of all the SD-only feeds on DirecTV, AMC's is one of the worst when it comes to PQ. ESPNU is the only one worse off the top of head.

Strangely, here in Muskegon, I only have AMC in SD, but Mad Men is available On Demand in HD, so if AMC puts the episodes up On Demand shortly after the airing, I might just wait for it to appear there and watch it in full HD on my 52". If not, I'll record Mad Men on my Tivo hooked up to my 27" SDTV and watch it on that one.

I don't know why I allow myself to still be shocked by how spoiled people can be these days.
Watch the show for the characters, acting, story arc and just enjoy it instead of worrying about technical bullshit.

I don't own an HDTV yet, but all I care about is seeing the actors (Hamm, Jones, Hendricks, Slattery etc), the set design and stories.
To be turned off because the show doesn't look good on a 52 inch TV sounds really ticky tack. I can't imagine it would be that horrible/unwatchable like trying to watch a show with shitty reception on some bunny ear antennas.

Plus it's not like shows in the 1960's were in HD and widescreen. Watching it window-boxed on my HDTV seems rather authentic.

Re: Mad Men/AMC scheduling question
So, assuming I have a little patience (I may not), I have the option to wait and watch episodes a month or 2 later on my mom's Comcast OD in HD. I've waited the better part of a year for new episodes, so what's a few months more?
I don't know why some of you think doing this is so terrible, particularly in a DVD forum where most people do care about things like PQ, and a lot of people routinely wait for shows to come out on DVD so they can watch them in a row. I guess I can see it for those who haven't gone HD yet. I also don't know why people care how, when, or why other people watch the show.
