True Blood -- "Release Me" -- 08/02/09

"Release Me"
Spoiler:
Betrayed by Daphne, Sam finds himself in an unenviable predicament at the hands of Maryann and her wild-eyed minions. Imprisoned with Hugo in the F.O.T.S. church, Sookie uses her telepathic powers to reach out to Bill, who’s being detained at the hotel by a stubbornly obsessive Lorena. After crossing a line with the Newlins, a fearful Jason tries to sever his ties with the Fellowship of the Sun, but gets plenty of resistance from Steve and his enforcer Gabe.

For those that have read the books:

Spoiler:
Weren't the werewolves about to be introduced at this point?

In the books, a werewolf helps Sookie escape (I think--it's been a while since I read the second book). The werewolves are a big part of book 3.

The end of this episode made no sense at all...

I thought the Bill and Lorena scenes were a big snoozefest.

Hoyt and Jessica were the highlight of the episode for me. Blood scented candles and "Bleeding Love" playing in the background

They smelled like "soup" to Hoyt.

Since Andy wasn't affected by the black-eyed orgy, does that mean he is a "supernatural" of some sort? Did anyone catch that since Daphne said that only supernaturals were unaffected?

That would be my guess. Maryann is quite the evil little bitch, I must say, and I love her so!

I loved this episode! Now things are really moving. My question, though, is why the hell did the preachers wife come up and shoot Jason? Is Jason dead? For those that read the books, does he die in the second book?

Wouldn't you rather wait until next week to find out what happens?

As to why she shot him, her husband clearly informed her that Jason and Sookie are siblings, and why Sookie was at the church. So she felt very betrayed thinking (like her husband) that Jason was just putting the whole act on, rather than buying into the church BS.

I think Jason was shot with a paintball gun, so he should be okay. From the half-second I saw it, it didn't quite look like a real gun, and the lack of a report, leads me to that conclusion.

The bigger mystery is why Sookie was wearing those Granny panties we saw when Gabe was ripping her clothes off and getting ready to cornhole her.

^ Who doesn't. Between granny panties and thongs who'd choose the granny. And we all know those are the ONLY 2 options

My first thought was it was a stun gun; but the paintball marker makes more sense.

Maybe she was wearing 'Gran' panties...

I wouldn't be surprised. I remember last season as Granny's group meeting in the church when Bill heard Andy's last name he repeated it and paused for a minute. It obviously meant something to him but they never touched on it again.

I think it was a white half slip.

I'm pretty sure it was because Andy came into the orgy in the middle of it. If I am remembering properly here in an earlier episode it showed Andy's eyes blackened also, like 2 eps back. I don't think just being present makes them fall under her spell, they have to be doing something that makes her powers come out, like drinking, dancing, eating, having sex.....

Andy's only supernatural power seems to be looking like a total drunk even when sober, that is if he has been sober at all this season.

First episode since the season premiere to not feel like it was 2 hours long. Let's hope they can keep the pace going.

I'm pissed.... the promo that aired just before Hung gave away waaaaay too much information about upcoming episodes

What happened to Evan Rachel Wood? I thought she was meant to be in this season.

That really pissed me off too. It looks like it was presented as just a longer version of next week's preview, but it seemed more like a "this is what happens the rest of the season" thing with as much shit as they showed. Showing what occured with Jason was particularly irritating.

She is. Later on.

That was the Comic-Con preview that's been floating around the web. I don't know why they decided to air it.

Re: True Blood -- "Release Me" -- 08/02/09

I agree with the promo for next week giving away too much. The ones over the past two weeks have both removed the suspense from what happens to two major characters (last week with Sam, and this week with Jason) who looked like time had run out on them.
