Synopsis for episode 1:

Spoiler:

In the Season 6 opener, the red and blue teams prepare their signature dishes, but in a departure from past seasons this is now a team effort. Then it's on to the first dinner service (predictably a disaster) before the first chef is eliminated and an old friend returns. The second dinner service is even more disastrous.

Season 6's Prize:

Head Chef position at Araxi Restaurant in Whistler, British Columbia, Canada

Bios for all the contestants:

One change this season. Gloria (the sous chef with glasses) is not on this season. She is being replaced by Heather West, who was the season 2 winner.

Should be good season. Looking forward to it.

Same here! I watched the first season religiously, and only recently watched a marathon of season 2(I think?). I'm excited!

The commercials make it seem like some of the cheftestants are going to throw fists with Gordon this season. I predict that Gordon will Shut it down! at the 44 minute mark.

Do yourself a favor and get the DVD's of The F Word.

He's seems more genuine and himself in that show as opposed to the fake feeling in the US.

Don't get me wrong I'm still watching this :)

What in the heck happened at the end of the show?!

That was bizarre!

I went downstairs and caught the last 20 minutes... I could not believe what I was hearing.

Spoiler:
Chef Ramsey :bmonkey: Joseph

... and we have to wait until next week to know what happens!?

Definitely agreed on this! Although I prefer Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares to that one. The US Version just doesn't quite do it for me, but I watch it anyway.

I missed the first part... why is there a fat dude on the girl's [red] team?

He made it to the final five last season and had to leave for health reasons; Gordon invited him back and put him on the team that lost the first service.

Hell's Kitchen has officially become a half way house. With hotheads like Van and Joseph, I get the feeling that Fox producers plucked this season's crop from the stir. I also found it funny how everyone was acting like Robert is an Iron Chef and then were surprised to see that he's just a hack like they are. Didn't anyone watch Robert's so-called cooking chops from last season? The biggest disappointment of the night came when Gordon didn't fully back JP to psycho Van.

Jp was douching it up a little also so I am cool with both of them getting ripped, and is JP that stupid to start right back before they even make it out the door. As far as the contestants I doubt there are any truly good chefs willing to do the show except maybe some diamonds in the rough that are from some backwater berg.

This was a great premiere. Only show I'm watching this summer. Good drama. Can't wait to see the continuation of "the fight".

Is it my imagination or did he gain weight?

Leave it to Fox Television to have a gay man touch a Good Ol' Boy for fine television viewing.

Meanwhile, "you touch me and I'll Kill Ya."

Lighten up, Francis.

What a pyscho! I can't even fathom how Joseph functions in society. I'm sure there have been plenty of people on Hell's Kitchen have gotten a raw deal due to editing, but how do you explain to your friends and family what they saw on tv?

Although I know it is as real as pro wrestling, it is still fun to watch.

Knowing Hell's Kitchen's past, I'm betting on Joseph being a friend and planted there to cause a scene and freak the others out. The 'fight' will end in in them both laughing and hugging.

Re: Hell's Kitchen -- Season 6 Thread -- Premieres 7/21/09

I'm sorry, but there's no way... NO WAY... that Joseph is a legit contestant. He's gotta be a ringer, put in there for the show's first big twist, whatever it will be. I'm sorry, there's just no way he's a "real" person. You don't go into the sixth season of a show, and not only not know how things work but openly defy them and then challenge the host to a duel for god's sake.

If it was a real confrontation, the SECOND he ripped off his jacket and started coming at Ramsay, crew members would have swarmed him, the camerawork would have gotten wonky, etc.

And I don't really buy that there was a guy so bad there that they knew he'd get bounced immediately and lucky for them that Robert just happened to be in the dining room.

I mean, I love this show, but goddamn these first two "big" events are totally scripted.

Re: Hell's Kitchen -- Season 6 Thread -- Premieres 7/21/09

Last night was my first time watching this show ever and the language shocked me! I was happy to see Scott Leibfried. I remember he used to be the host of the Food Network Challenges before Keegan came along and I was wondering what happened to him.

I am assuming that the entire restaurant is a set, because if it isn't, most people during the first challenge left without food and that doesn't seem feasible. It was funny how Robert was pumping up his ego during his little vignettes and he ended up just as bad as everyone else. Tennille as well. Both of them have taken on leadership roles of sorts and end up falling short.

Joseph is grade A crazy. I think he's watched the show in the past and decided he'd be the one to finally stand up to Gordon. It's funny how some other contestants were trying to get brownie points by making little comments to Joseph when he went off. Do they really think that Gordon needs help?
