Another meh episode. I sort of find the Mary/Raff relationship to be even phonier when we find out at the end of the episode that they're engaged and Raff has absolutely zero idea what Mary does for a living. Come on, really? I understand the need for some secrecy, but your fiance doesn't know what you do? That makes Mary seem like an even bigger control freak than ever.

They JUST got engaged at the end of the last episode, so up to then, they were just boyfriend/girlfriend. So she's telling him what she does after being engaged for about a week - doesn't seem so weird to me.

Meh episode, sure, but Landau was really good - subdued, but more than solid all the same.

Most jobs that deal with law enforcement/security may have people sign a non-disclosure agreement which prevents them from saying what they do specifically for a living. They have to either have a verbal cover job and/or a physical cover job.

Many CIA agents sent to work undercover may have relationships built on lies. For the Witsec agents, they have to keep both the protected witness and themselves safe. Imagine if a high profile crimiinal found out which Deputy Marshal was protecting the person who either will put them away or has put them in jail. That Deputy Marshal is in just as much danger along with his/her own family.

I thought that he knew she was a US marshal. What did he think she did?

I don't enjoy her relationship with Raf one bit. I always thought she had much better chemistry in the first season with the hot cop. I was wondering why she hasn't had any scenes with him this season. I was glad to see him in last night's episode, albeit only with Marshall.

Fine, but they have been dating more than a year. You're dating someone for a year and don't have any idea what they do for a living? Sorry. Don't buy it.

I think Raf already knew that Mary was a U.S. Marshall. He just had no idea what she does on a daily basis. He obviously saw that she carries a firearm and remember he was with Mary, Jinx and Brandi when she was being indicted on those murder charges.

If you visit the U.S. Marshall's web site, they do alot more than just protect witnesses.

http://www.usmarshals.gov/

So when Mary stated that she was a chief inspector in the Witsec program, it was entirely justified.

And I disagree with you. I actually think that Raf and Mary have some decent chemistry even though it's a little awkward at times. Bobby D is a cool cat, but I don't feel any sparks with him and Mary.

I thought this was a good episode overall. Martin Landau was a good choice to play the witness.

I wondered that too. It seemed that they were heading putting those 2 together.
