MacLachlan Plans Twin Peaks Comeback

MacLachlan Plans Twin Peaks Comeback

16 June 2009 5:00 AM, PDT

Actor Kyle MacLachlan plans to resurrect his quirky TV drama Twin Peaks in short installments on the Internet.

The Desperate Housewives star played an FBI agent on the show between 1990 and 1991, working with legendary director David Lynch on the cult series.

The show was eventually cancelled after a decline in ratings, but returned in 1992 with a prequel movie Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me.

MacLachlan is desperate to reprise his role once again and hopes to utilise the web to help fulfil his ambition of a return to Twin Peaks.

He says, "I have a crazy idea to bring back Twin Peaks on the net as five minute webisodes."

But the star admits the show's creator, David Lynch, won't be involved with the new version as he is too busy focusing on his initiatives to publicise meditation techniques.

MacLachlan adds, "David's focus is more on transcendental meditation now."

I'd watch, but I don't know how great it will be without Lynch behind the scenes.

Re: MacLachlan Plans Twin Peaks Comeback

No Lynch doesn't sound good (what's Mark Frost doing?). But I do want more Agent Dale Cooper. So torn, I wonder what he'd do with how Cooper's arc ended.

I've always felt more Twin Peaks was possible, even after all the years, and with a few of the actors dead, this is Lynch so anything can happen. My idea was to treat it like it was real time. And just pick up Twin Peaks 20 years later. How wonderful anything would be. But I don't think it'll happen.

I don't know. As much as I'd like some resolution, MacLachlan looks nothing like he used to.

I read somewhere that MacLachlan had too many botox injections and plastic surgeries that it caused nerve damage in his face.

Without Lynch, this is without a doubt, a waste of everyone's time...

I don't see any type of five-minute installments being able to do justice to the way the series ended. The worse news is Lynch has become completely obsessed with this meditation jazz. I love the guy as a creative mind, but the way he promotes TM, is odd, even for David Lynch.

I'd watch anything Twin Peaks related, even now.

He promotes it because it has helped him be so creative. I believe he's been doing it since the 70s. So basically all the films he's produced for us have come from his meditation. It's something he genuinely believes in because it proved invaluable (although the lessons you pay for sound a bit like a scheme to me). Do I wish he would make more films? Of course, but I know he as a lot of interests, and he is getting old and I suspect he doesn't have the same drive as 20 years ago.

The Interview Project he's producing is pretty interesting if you need a little Lynch fix. It has the same feel as The Straight Story, although I don't know how involved he is. He at least introduces every person.
