Nurse Jackie - Season 1
Anyone else get the invite from Showtime to view this early online? I thought it was a pretty good first episode. Since I love Edie Falco I was planning on checking it out anyway.

Nurse Jackie - S01E01 - Pilot
A nurse struggles to find a balance between the demands of her frenetic job at a New York City hospital and an array of personal dramas.
I think this show will be a bust

I wasn't that drawn into the first episode. It was decent, but nothing that made me wanting more. The first 2 episodes are already up on-demand for anyone interested.

Showtime renews 'Nurse Jackie' for season 2

Record ratings for Showtime's "Nurse Jackie" premiere last night -- 1.35 million viewers -- has earned the series a second season pickup.
Though the number is the combined total of its two Monday airings, that's still better than the premiere numbers for "Weeds," "Dexter," "Californication" and "The Tudors."
The season premiere of "Weeds" did pretty well too, drawing a combined 1.68 million people in its two airings. That's a 25 percent jump over last year's finale.
The new season of "Nurse Jackie" will start shooting later in the summer and premiere next year.
So, thoughts? Did you watch last night? Were you into the Edie Falco dramedy? Are you digging the character or do you think she's a bit much?

Not a bad first episode.......She basically just plays Carmela Soprano as a nurse. In one scene she calls one of the doctors a "Fucking retard"..........

Fiancee and I liked it - we'll keep watching. Falco makes the role.
I do find it funny she's involved with a guy being played by the dude who played the freeloading priest in the Sopranos.

She diagnosed the first patient quickly and she's addicted to painkillers. On top of that, the hospital management seems to have a problem controlling her. And she flushed the ear, taking a big risk if she got caught, as well as secretly doing a good deed by giving the first patient's girlfriend/wife the douchebag's money. She's House, M.D. with a vagina.
I do think it's interesting that the drug scenes are red against an all white background, which is very Dexter-like. It's a cheap visual cue to make Showtime viewers feel familiar with the show, even if they don't realize it.

Nice catch, I hadn't even thought of that. And wasn't there some flirtation going on in The Sopranos? I think he had a thing for Carmela if I'm remembering correctly.

I liked it and will watch the whole season. Too each his own though. I think the problem is it's too short. This should be a hour long show.

I found the pilot to be excellent, Falco is always great. My season pass has been locked in. I'm also thrilled that Showtime has picked it up for a second season.

I watched the first five minutes and couldn't get into it (hated the fucking style)... I'll give it a second attempt soon but don't think this show is for me.

Watched about 10 minutes of it and noticed that they tried to play her off as sexy. Does anyone out there actually think of her as good looking?

The only thing I thought was off was the man playing her husband seemed way too young for her, but perhaps they will explain that later.

Re: Nurse Jackie - S01E01 - Pilot
I've seen both episodes now and is it just me or is everyone else in the hospital more entertaining than the lead character? I found myself wishing she was a supporting character instead of the focus. She is just an unlikeable character too, which I guess is intended. She cheats on her husband, does drug, and is generally mean to everyone. Are we supposed to care about her character?

I take it your not a fan of The Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Dexter, The Shield, Weeds, or Oz.

I didn't like it at all either, so I'm one and done. Maybe they will turn her into a more "complex character," but I don't feel like going down that road with this show (and I liked Sopranos, Breaking Bad, and The Shield).
