Stephen Colbert In Iraq (Mon-Thur)

Stephen Colbert is going to be doing his show in Iraq

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/06/08/ar...on/08colb.html

Should be great, I've read that on the soldiers issue, his character and himself are both similary aligned.

Do they cover their women, or will we get a peek?

Hrrmm interesting..

http://satellitetvguru.net/the-colbe...-goes-to-iraq/

Comedy Central announced today they will air four episodes of The Colbert Report from Iraq Monday through Thursday (June 8 - June 11) under the banner “Operation Iraqi Stephen: Going Commando.”
I couldn't get on the comedy central site to verify that info!

It's go time Nation! "The Colbert Report" has deployed to Iraq on a USO tour entitled "Operation Iraqi Stephen: Going Commando" and will tape and perform shows in front of the troops. “The Colbert Report” is the first TV show in USO history to produce a week of shows in a combat zone. "Operation Iraqi Stephen: Going Commando" will air on COMEDY CENTRAL Monday, June 8 through Thursday, June 11 at 11:30 p.m. ET/PT. In addition, Colbert will post updates from base on Twitter at http://twitter.com/stephenathome.

“The USO counts this as military service, right? I might want to run for office some day,” Colbert said.

"Operation Iraqi Stephen: Going Commando" is taking place at an undisclosed military base in conjunction with the USO, with all shows taped in front of an audience of troops. The week will feature many segments including Colbert putting together USO care packages for the troops and "shout outs" from notable figures in society.

Guests who will appear on the show include: Deputy Prime Minister of Iraq, Barham Saleh; Gen. Ray Odierno, commanding general, Multi National Force- Iraq; Lt. Gen. Charles H. Jacoby, Jr., commanding general, Multi National Corps- Iraq; Command Sgt. Maj. Frank Grippe, command sergeant major, Multi National Corps- Iraq; Sgt. Robin Balcom, squad leader, 463rd Military Police Company; and Spc. Tareq Salha, Arabic linguist, 111th Military Intelligence Brigade (attached to 3rd Battalion, 7th Field Artillery Regiment).

Great show tonight.

Colbert fans should check out this week's Newsweek -- it's guest-edited by Colbert (which says something about the sorry state of journalism, I suppose, but it's fine entertainment).

My bad, guess it started last night. Set my DVR to catch last night's rerun, then pick up the rest of the week. And there is always Hulu.

Colbert: You overheard? Are your spy satellites really that good?
Obama: No but my ears are really that big.

Just watched the first one with my wife, though she was going to bust a gut laughing. She normally doesn't watch Colbert, but for this she made an exception.

Re: Stephen Colbert In Iraq (Mon-Thur)

Any dog lovers here that would possibly know what breed of puppy that was in the taped bit with Tom Hanks?

Thanks.

Wow, really? Not that I don't like the breed, but they sure look better as pups, because that was one really cute puppy.

Thanks for the info. Would never have guessed or known, so I do appreciate the reply.

Haven't thought these shows have been very funny. That particular Hanks thing was not very good at all.

I did think, once again, it took some big balls to deal with gays in the military so openly in that one bit where he debates himself.

I particularly liked Stephen's special segments this week: the boot camp 2-parter and his trip to fly with the Thunderbirds.

His short haircut, though, looks so wrong on him.
