In Plain Sight -- "Duplicate Bridge" -- 6/7/09

Photobucket

Synopsis:

Spoiler:

After the engineer of a collapsed bridge is targeted by the families of those who died in the accident, he enters Witsec and tries to prove he's not responsible for the collapse.

Hopefully last week's episode was the only time we will ever see a Stan story as the A Plot. Looks like tonight's will be back to Mary and Marshall.

Pretty bland episode. Needed more Mary.

^^
Couldn't disagree more.

Nice to see a Marshall-centric episode. And it was different; as a tech guy myself, it's nice to see engineer characters on TV who aren't simply depicted as one-dimensional nerds.

Cool Freemason reference. With Dan Brown's new book coming in the fall, I think we're going to see a lot of media references to Freemasonry between now and then.

Are Marshall and Mary's sister headed for a hookup?

[Edit] Can anyone tell me the name of the musical piece that was playing during the final scene?
Never mind, I think it's "Li'l Darlin'" from Count Basie's "Finest Hour" album.

I liked it, always good to see Clarke Peters

I like the little jabs Mary and Eleanor take at each other.

The grain on this show is so annoying in HD. I can't believe they are shooting this on 16mm film instead of digital video.

I thought this was a really good episode.

The episode added some depth to Marshall's character and I thought Mary was funny and snippy in her supporting role. Loved her fascination with the Super Stapler.

I thought Clarke Peters was really solid. It was kind of sad to see this character feel so tortured by his actions, which was only a bridge design.

Are there restaurants that actually ship food like ribs to your house from another state as exemplified in this episode? How the heck would you ship it without it spoiling?

Tony's Seafood here in Baton Rouge has a dept of 5 employees for out of state orders and shipping. They use dry ice. I am not sure of others

There are plenty of companies that ship food in that manner. I remember an episode of the Food Network show Unwrapped that had a company from Chicago that would send you a "Taste Of Chicago" package that included ribs, hot dogs, and a Deep Dish Pizza.

In fact, I think this is the site:

http://www.tastesofchicago.com/faq

Basically they flash freeze the food, and use Dry Ice to keep it that way. And shipping is within 1-2 days.

I know you can get Kansas City BBQ shipped to you using dry ice. Thought it does make for some pricey BBQ.

I did find it amusing that it was Omaha BBQ that they were excited about. It's been about 10 years since I last lived in Omaha but the BBQ was merely decent and hardly compared to KC.
