If that was in any other movie we'd all be complaining about how unrealistic it was. But it is straight from the book and apparently really happened that way.

THIS.
But if I had to choose one, "Why we Fight" because my father was a soldier who liberated a concentration camp. Despite our best efforts to this day, he will not speak about it. The only reason we know about it is from a letter to our mother about it that he started, but then wrote about other things without finishing the thought.

The first time I watched the series I loved "Breaking Point" and "Why We Fight". Then I noticed they were directed by the same person, David Frankel. He did a hell of a job with them! All of the episodes are amazing however.
My favorite scene has to be Speirs relieving Dike and taking command of Easy company, and then running back and forth on the battlefield to hook up the two platoons.

I just recently watched this series for the first time. There is no way in hell I could pick a single episode, it was just that good.
But if you insist..."Why We Fight" left the biggest impact on me. Haunting stuff.

Bastogne is my favorite of them all. I love the medic story. And I like how it showed more than any other how comfortable these guys were with each other, since they were all just trying to stay alive. So sitting in a ditch and holding another man for warmth was just no big thing at that point. Really interesting stuff.

Re: Favorite "Band of Brothers" episode?
Ok, I guess I should have included an "All of Them!!" selection, but I didn't. I did think about putting the documentary "We Stand Alone Together" in, but decided to stick to the actual 10 part miniseries.
While "The Breaking Point" is my favorite overall episode, I think some of the best moments are in "Why We Fight", basically the whole sequence where they find the camp, and also the baseball scene in "Points" where we find out what happened with the soldiers we followed, through to the end where they finally put names with the real veterans that opened each episode.

Great series. The Bastogne episode stayed with me for a long time. I'm glad it's leading the poll.

I picked Why We Fight as well, but I met the real Malarkey as well as several other surviving Easy Company veterans, they all said Easy Company did not come across a concentration camp. It was a compelling story though.

I was at Berchtesgaden and at the Eagle's Nest over the Memorial Day, so I rewatched "Points" again, and voted for that episode.

Bastogne and Why We Fight are the two that stuck with me and I voted Bastogne. When the shooting starts, it's so unimaginable to have to fight like that. Dark, cold, 360 degrees - badass.
Who the hell voted for Currahee? By far the worst.

I was one of the Currahee votes. I love the boot camp atmosphere, and David Schwimmer did a good job as a despised DI. Plus I like the anticipation that builds during the episode... NO JUMP TONIGHT!

The series also overemphasized Easy Company's role in liberating a Nazi concentration camp by showing its soldiers stumbling on the squalid camp's dead and dying Jewish inmates, Foley said. Easy's men were in the camp at Dachau, Germany, but were not first to enter it. Foley said he believed the series' producers tailored Easy's role to show the enormity of Nazi atrocities.
Dachau was a Nazi German concentration camp, and the first one opened in Germany, located on the grounds of an abandoned munitions factory near the medieval town of Dachau, about 16 km (10 miles) northwest of Munich in southern Germany.
Landsberg and Buchloe were satellite work camps build around Dachau in Bavaria, Germany. These work camps forced the prisoners to dig and work in tunnel systems that were used to manufacture weapons after the Allies had air superiority. There were a lot of concentrations camps around Landsberg, not just one.
From what I have read, this is the biggest dramatic license the shows take from history. Apparently, Easy company did not liberate any concentration camp, but did see Dachau after it had been liberated. That being said, it is easy to see why the show's creators would want to portray it the way they did.

I'm partial to "Breaking Point", but I also really love "The Last Patrol". That whole episode is only about one mission and it's build-up and (Intense) aftermath lingers in the mind. I feel it also has the best acting out of all the episodes.

Bastogne without even having to think about it. In my opinion that's the best hour of entertainment ever produced for Television.

Re: Favorite "Band of Brothers" episode?
I finished watching the series for the 2nd time last night and all I can (again) is WOW! At several points during the series I asked myself how would I have survived in such a predicament? I can never come up with an answer that results in survival. Just amazing what those boys went through.
I voted for "Why We Fight", because it really brought all the senseless violence home, and obviously answered the question. The fact that Darrell "Swifty" Powers passed away just recently (June-'09) really provides a not so distant link to when all this went down. Just unimaginable, but it happened.
Which episode had Jimmy Fallon in it? I missed his cameo.
