Re: The Office -- "Cafe Disco" -- 5/7/09
Oscar's comment was, "You invited a friend? I've been here eight years and I never..." (delivered in a way that implies either he's never invited a friend or that the thought never entered his mind). I think reading anything into Oscar saying it or the girl grabbing the other girl's hand to bring her into the party is a bit much... that's what a girl would do in the situation, and Oscar is probably the best one to deliver that line (Michael would invite a friend, Jim wouldn't be talking to her, Stanley was asleep, Kevin is Kevin, etc.).
After some of the more 'harsh' Elba moments (especially with Jim), it was nice to see them go the fun route, even if it's just filler. And I agree with the poster above who really got a kick out of Angela just walking straight under the limbo stick.

Enjoyed Michael's line:
"I can't MAKE you go down, but I can entice you."
Reminded me of "I tented my pants" from the Surviorman episode.

No mention of Jenna Fischer looking gorgeous in that pink dress? Damn, you people are slacking. I wish we could have seen more of her in the business suit too.
I was getting annoyed at Michael's constant asking people to come down to his cafe disco, but by the end I was enjoying the episode. Not an all time great, but I'll be smiling every time I watch it.
Stanley sleeping through the whole thing was pretty damn funny. I was not expecting that at all when Pam and Jim were walking through the break room.
I couldn't tell if that was Ed Helms doing all the dance moves, but if it was, he can move.
I liked how Phyllis blurted out her thought about Bob Vance, Vance Refrigeration cheating on her and immediately laughing instead of bawling like I thought she would.
I think Erin is so eager to please and fit in that she is willing to do just about anything as evidenced by her playing along with Dwight's mean joke and being asked for her birth certificate.
Kudos to Kevin for seeing that Erin brought a friend and going to get his girlfriend and making out with her.
Angela walking underneath the limbo bar without ducking just might be my favorite sight gag I've seen on this show.

Yeah, it didn't move hardly any storylines forward, but it was a fun episode and I laughed constantly throughout 2 viewings of it. Seeing the cast obviously having a good time seemed to permeate through to me, anyways.

I rewatched it again and vote this episode a winner! Michael chastizing the group for "taking a life" (of the party) was great. Respect the lei was a great line too. Loved the nard-dog.

"I love the smell of bacon on a woman"
That scene s/h been kept in. It w/h made the shot of her pinning him even funnier.

I agree, that was definitely a keeper. Not to mention the fact that her face was obscured and it wasn't obvious enough who Kevin was making out with.

Didn't care much for this one. A little too weird for my tastes. Still had some moments but the Phyllis thing was REALLY stupid (feeding her carrots like a horse? Really??) and the disco wasn't funny enough to counteract that. I liked Pam and Jim's stuff but the rest of it was pretty poor.
Weakest episode of the season, by far. Which is a shame because they were on a real roll.

This series it coming dangerously close to jumping the shark territory.. Perhaps "Michael Scott Paper Company" will be the line.

That was pretty much my favorite Office episode ever. I laughed the entire time and cried because I was laughing so hard from the Cafe Disco stuff the entire time it was on screen.

Just watched this last night (we're a week behind). I can't believe no one has mentioned Creed walking out of the bathroom while eating a piece of chicken! That was the highlight of the show for me.
