Synopsis:

Spoiler:

Hodges and Wendy run into one another at a science-fiction convention, where a TV producer is murdered. The two help in the investigation, which reveals that the victim was remaking a beloved sci-fi series and giving it an ultraviolent twist that upset many devout fans.

Looks like this is a very Wendy/Hodges themed episode.

BTW, I read awhile ago that this episode will also feature Ronald Moore and Kate Vernon from Battlestar Galactica playing themselves.

I rarely watch CSI, but I happened to see the promo for this one and set the DVR.

Liz Vassey in 60s-era pseudo-Trek costume? I'm so there...

And Kate Vernon too!

Pretty sure I saw Grace Park in the audience when they were watching the Astro Quest Redux scene (which reminded me a lot of the BSG remake, which I'm sure was the point).

Liz Vassey in the "The Gamesters Of Triskelion" knockoff outfit has almost justified this awful episode.

Almost.

Yep, saw her too.

Ron Moore (DS9/BSG producer) was the bearded guy who first yelled "YOU SUCK!" after watching that redux video.

Almost.

It totally justified it for me.

It sure didn't take long after Petersen's departure for this show to start sliding downhill.

Surprised at all the hate for this one. Sure it was silly but I thought it was a nice lighthearted change of pace from the usual formula.

Hear, hear. Can't they take a week off for a little fun without getting crucified?

I was cracking up at the loud drums in the background just like BSG

I didn't think it was a bad episode either.

I mean if your a CSI fan, you should know by now the show does maybe 1-2 "Fun" episodes per season that lighten things up a bit.

And I 1000% disagree with the comments above on how this show has regressed since Petersen left. I think the show is still doing well creatively and keeping things fresh each week.

I'm in the loved it camp. I always love the silly/fun episodes they do on CSI, especially when it showcases Liz Vassey's hotness ;)

Exactly. CSI has always had a couple of comedy-centric shows every season to keep things from getting too dreary.

Since Petersen's departure, the show has been more team-focused. This episode used everybody and I liked that.

Plus, the lab rats always get at least one episode every year. This was their ep. I enjoyed it--campy but not overly silly.

 Very fun episode, even if I find the idea of Liz Vassey being attracted to Hodges absurd. ;)

Loved the Trek-type dream vignettes and Liz Vassey in those outfits. It was good to see the Lt. from Babylon 5 as the 'Captain Kirk' of Astroquest. at Stokes' 'geek love' comment.

If Liz Vassey was a regular, I'd probably watch CSI more often.

My wife and sister-in-law - not consistent CSI-watchers, but Star Trek/Sci Fi fans - actually stayed up to watch this last night from the DVR. We loved it.

Well, she has been a lot more prominent since Petersen left.

CSI has always been something an ensemble show, but during the Petersen years, the ensemble was mostly Grissom, Brass, Sara, Catherine, Nick, Warrick, Greg and Doc Robbins.

Since Grissom left, Hodges, Mandy, Wendy & David seem to have stepped more out of the background.

Chew 04-17-09 05:16 PM

Fun episode, especially for all the direct Trek references.

Ron Moore: "You Suck!"

What's funny is there was an article from last summer that said Liz Vassey and David Berman were promoted to series regulars this season. However, they are still only credited as "Special Guest Stars." I would say David has appeared in more episodes this season than Liz.

* Current cast members Liz Vassey (lab rat Wendy) and David Berman (coroner David) have been upped to full-fledged series regulars. Wallace Langham's Hodges, meanwhile, will become more prominent.

http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2008/07/...ive-csi-b.html

The article was dated July 15th when this season just barely began production.

15.4 million viewers last night. Wasn't it around 20 million when the season started?

It's only a matter of time before CSI Miami gets more viewers than this. :)

(ducks)

But seriously, fun episode indeed.
