Ciao,

No, that was Ben's father.

So I think this is pretty good proof that Widmore did the whole thing.

I was under the impression that the reason they got Miles is because they wanted to know what exactly was in the package dead guy was trying to deliver.

I think this is pretty good proof that they want us to think Widmore did the whole thing.

Naomi spelled out clearly what they wanted. She said that the man they're after who is hard to find (Ben) killed a lot of people (purge) and a lot of information could be obtained from those people (in the pit). Miles didn't get a chance to read any dead Dharma thoughts while in 2007.

Maybe you're describing 'The Incident'. And, perhaps that's how Miles got his 'power' to talk to dead people (especially if the different time theory is true).

'The Incident' has to do with something with the magnetic energy of the island, and why they have to enter the numbers in the Swan afterwards.

For a scientist working with the possibility of time travel, Marvin Candle is pretty dense and slow if he can't figure out that adult Miles is his kid grown-up. How many Asian dudes that have physically resembling features as him are named Miles?

I've never watched one of the recap episodes before, like the one they're airing on Wednesday(I watched seasons 1-4 in the past 2 months and the first 5 episodes of season 5 online before catching up), but I'm curious if they're at all worthwhile.
I'm going to watch it regardless because any LOST is better than none, but just wanted to know if it's just a glorified "Previously on LOST" or something more legit.

I think it's somewhat interesting to see what the producers emphasize as being "important" in the recaps. For instance, in some previous years, the recaps totally skimmed over any references to
Spoiler:
the numbers
leading one to wonder how important they were in the current show landscape.

This was bothering me also. Plus Hurley was hinting at and pointing out the similarities, he all but came out and said "Dude, this is your son."

What? I don't think people go around looking for grown up versions of their infant children. If I met somebody with the same name as my child who happens to be a few decades older, I wouldn't even think that regardless of how much they look like me.

Maybe Marvin hasn't figured out the time travel yet. Perhaps when he does, he puts two and two together and realizes that Miles is his kid, freaks out and that leads to some major event.

I'm sorry, but when did you join the Dharma initiative and studied the possibility of time travel? I must have been living inside a hatch or something.

I would be more concerned with my wife's fidelity after getting pregnant shortly after a new, hot young asian shows up and then coincidently names our kid with the same decidedly non-oriental name.

(Did I get my terms correct, Otters?)

This is (basically) my problem with "Back to the Future" as well. Wouldn't George be at least somewhat curious that one of their kids looks exactly like the guy Lorraine used to date in high school?

Maybe they figured out what happened by 1985, just never felt the need to explain it to the audience? I always assumed George would connect the Sci-Fi Star Wars/Star Trek references, and Marty's look, by then.

Then again, maybe George and Lorraine are really stupid.

Pierre is doing his best to keep quiet about all things time travel related even though Hurley is driving hard to the basket with his questions and comments. Like I said before, all any of them have to do at this point is give Chang a brief mention about time travel, a giant wheel, the purge, etc...and he'll probably realize these people are for real.

Remember, in BTTF, Doc was worried what might happen if Jennifer were to run into her future self. He theorized it might unravel the space-time continuum. In reality they simply fainted. Since in that film, the past could be changed, it's different than LOST's whatever happened, happened theory. Maybe the two Miles meet face-to-face and start the unraveling.

They haven't touched upon the Kate-Jack-Sawyer love triangle for a long time. I wonder what direction they will take that. I'm sure here's fan fiction somewhere that involves a foursome with them and Juliet.

With one season left I don't see them dedicating any time to switching Roger with Jack as the dead corpse.
