Sarah Connor Chronicles to Be Cancelled

Bummer--I've enjoyed this show a lot.

Scoop: Fox set to terminate 'Sarah Connor Chronicles'
Apr 14, 2009, 03:56 PM | by Michael Ausiello

http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2009/04/...t.html?cnn=yes

Resist the urge to nuke the messenger, but multiple sources are telling me that Fox will not be renewing Terminator: The Summer Glau Sarah Connor Chronicles for a third season.

"It's done," maintains a source close to the show. "Everyone has pretty much known for a couple of weeks." Adds a network insider: "Consider it canceled."

The one bright spot? Despite horrific ratings, Fox isn't ready to declare SCC dead and buried -- at least not officially. "No decision has been made yet," insists a network rep. "We will be announcing our fall schedule on May 18."

Rough translation: It won't be back.

Oh, I just thought of one other bright spot: At least the show went out on top creatively. Last Friday's finale was an action-packed, closure-filled triumph. The only thing left unresolved is what Summer Glau will do for an encore. I'm thinking 24 should hire her as next season's Big Bad.

Well I'd find it hard to believe anyone would be surprised by this news. Still... :(

I guess Brian Austin Green's schedule just openned up to be on 90210.

Brian Austin Green signed on for Body Politic last month as everyone knew Terminator was a longshot for renewal.

Re: Sarah Connor Chronicles to Be Cancelled

If you've seen the previous episodes of Terminator you might know why Brian Austin Green would be shopping around for another job.

Wonder if they pair Fringe with Dollhouse? I mean, if they keep either series around.

Re: Sarah Connor Chronicles to Be Cancelled

I like the preemptive reporting - "TO BE cancelled" as opposed to "CANCELLED."

i think the series was OK, but the main thing I couldn't get past was Summer G. IMO, she was the show's biggest mistake. But I like the rest of the cast.

I can only picture dollhouse going for one more season like Dark Angel. Fringe, on the other hand, seems like a much stronger show that could go on a while.

Well, this is not good news. TTSCC was one of the few shows we actually watched when it aired.

Re: Sarah Connor Chronicles to Be Cancelled

^ Yep. T:TSCC is about the only "appointment" television show I have. I should have known that it wouldn't last long...

I lost interest this season -- not surprised of the news.

How can they cancel a show that people like so much? Why would they do that?

Is this a serious question?

It would be smart for them to see how well the movie does first. there's supposed to be a large number of tie-ins with fast food, fruit snacks, cereals, toys and shit. It would probably bring in a lot of interest... but oh well... the terminator chick was beginning to look like a bug-eyed alien anyways.

Damn. With this gone and Prison Break ending, that only leaves 24 for me to watch on Fox.

With the push that Fringe is getting I doubt that it wouldn't be picked up. I'd personally love a Fringe/Dollhouse pairing on anything but Friday night.

Ugh, either it's canceled or it's not. "To be canceled" was always a pet peeve haha.

No kidding. Thank you FOX, now I don't have to watch your crappy channel.

Why do all my shows get canceled? It makes me not want to start watching new shows in the first place.

Fox gets a lot of crap for canning shows. They give low rated shows a longer run than just about anyone (NBC seems to be pretty forgiving to their 30 minute sitcoms, not so much to their hour long dramas tho FNL is an exception (awards help)) but considering Friday's season finale only drew 3.56M viewers, I can see them having a problem justifying it (by comparison, Jericho on CBS was initially canceled after season 1 despite pulling 9.5m viewers avg.) And while you can argue Friday nights suck until you're blue in the face, if Ghost Whisperer can pull in over 10m viewers on the night, anything technically should be able to (seriously, that show is terrrrrrible. Nice boobs though)

That said, I think it would be wise for them to hold on to the series to see how the new Terminator does, it may be able to rekindle interest in what is, imo, a played out franchise.

Because we like shows that are not cop, lawyer, doctor or CSI, shows, I stopped trying new shows and was going to wait until it was proven to have a complete story then watch it on DVD, however I went and tried a couple shows and look what happens, this is why I do not bother with no shows anymore, everything I find entertaining gets canceled or almost everything.

The network doing well on Friday nights is CBS which is considered the old folks network who are more likely to be home on a Friday night.

I've definitely stopped watching as many new shows as I once did. The crappy part about that is, it's a vicious circle. Maybe other people stopped watching new shows when T:SCC started, and that's why it is now being canceled.

On the bright side, I'm going to have a lot more free time next fall, lol.

Shows from this season (possibly) not on my schedule next year:

Terminator: SCC
Dollhouse
Chuck
Reaper
Fringe (?)
Scrubs (had a good run though)
Dirty Sexy Money

Re: Sarah Connor Chronicles to Be Cancelled

Ghost Whisperer is popular because it appeals to a wider audience then dollhouse, or Terminator. What bothers me about if it does get cancelled is I absolutely guarantee you whatever they put on friday nights instead will do even worse I mean come on you can't keep canning shows and expect one or two seasons to be ratings darlings for the end of time especially a show that needs to be watched each week. This is stupid what are gonna do play House every night or how about a show with an aging comedian that is rarely that funny anyways.

mnementh 04-14-09 07:18 PM

If the show does get cancelled, I hope it gets replaced with Summer Glau dancing ballet in lingerie.

Ghost Whisperer does well on Fridays because pretty much every CBS show gets over 10m viewers.

I'd Definitely recommend watching the remaining shows. I got the feeling while watching the finale that it was written in a way to be both a season AND a series finale (covering all bases). Aside from that, the final 4 or 5 episodes of this season have been the best of the series, IMO.

The last few episodes resolve a lot, but they introduce some new stuff at the end and leave on a cliffhanger. Most of the people in the weekly thread seemed satisfied with the finale.

probably because almost no one watches it and the cost of production exceeds the revenues from commercials. kind of like start trek tos

Re: Sarah Connor Chronicles to Be Cancelled

I liked the first year but the writing has been pretty mediocre this season. I stopped watching about 8 episodes ago and my partnerhas been sorta watching but fast forwarding through most of the episodes. Most I talked to felt the same way.
I hear it rebounded on the last two episodes but by then most people had bailed already.

Re: Sarah Connor Chronicles to Be Cancelled

I'm disappointed, but I can't say I'm devastated. Season 2 has been inconsistent. I think the show would have worked better with only 13 episodes for season 2. I think the last 1/4 of season 2 made up for all the mediocre and bad episodes.

After getting off to such a horrible start on Monday's in the ratings and even worse on Friday's, I was happy that FOX decided to stick with it.

I do look forward to getting the DVD and listening to the commentary on some of these episodes.

I thought the finale worked as both a season and series finale.

The Winter finale killed the show. It was a horrible episode and when they came back it didn't get better for a while.

Not surprised. The last couple of episodes were decent, but overall Season 2 sucked. Now I can ignore Fox altogether.
