They should either both have projectile weapons or neither. The above is like using a revolver against a swordsman.
The equalizer was supposed to be that the knight had armor & chainmail while the pirate had inaccurate single shot firearms. What I didn't like was that they had not determined how heavy and cumbersome fighting in armor was. The pig test was pretty sweet, but the guy weilding the broadsword wasn't wearing any armor so of course his eyesight, agility and mobility would allow for a nice swing at the target.

So if the pirate hits with his pistol he wins, if he misses the knight wins.
And I agree with your second point. Not only gunpowder but the longbow also contributed to the downfall of the armored knight. As the French found out at Agincourt, when you are laying in the mud with 80lbs of steel a guy with a dirk will tear you apart.

Starting 2 episodes ago Spike has been making aftershows where they answer viewer questions/complaints about the episodes.

So do I. They should just dress some random guys up for each part and let them fight. Whoever wins, wins.

Oops. I've been watching these off my DVR. The pirate won? Ridiculous.

The kill was pretty cool though. I won't give it away but go check it out.

Re: Deadliest Warrior

The kill was cool but I was still surprised the pirate won.

So did the viking kill the samurai or vise versa?

Re: Deadliest Warrior

I actually think the fights are as good as many movies

Love the blood and gore aspect

sure the matchups and analysis have heaps of flaws but it's all a bit of fun

Finished the Green Beret vs Spetznaz.. picked the Spetznaz all the way.

at the homey punching the Spetznaz dude and he's like.. "yeah, whatever."

Will catch up on the Mafia vs Yakuza later.

Re: Deadliest Warrior

I think they last 2 episodes have been pretty weak. Once you start using guns, it becomes kinda pointless. I think the hand-to-hand combat stuff is fun, though.

And they never go into it with the last pairing... Spetznaz would own a Green Beret in h2h combat.

I'm not thinking too much into the Mafia vs Yakuza. There's no skill in being a gang member... it comes out to better guns.

Yup.

I think they need to start doing movie characters like Maximus versus Achilles or James Bond versus Jason Bourne.
