This was the worst episode in while.
Even Update sucked.

I thought most of this was pretty bland, with little to no laughs, but the HSM skit was alright....could have been funnier but it was a good idea.
agree
Gilly has to be one of the worst sketches in SNL history.
it is not only funny but extremely boring and stupid.
When Forte repeats the name Gilly 4 times in a row you want to fall asleep.
I hope we get good musicial guests for the 2009-2010 season since this season except for the killers (not saying much) was not memorable.

I thought the YYYs did a great job and was actually impressed by Zac. I've never seen any of the HSM movies and have only seen him in Hairspray, but he was a pretty good host. The 'Bitch Please' bit cracks me up every time, and I liked the underage drinking sketch.

Why is this show still on the air? It is horrible. I watched the Gilly and the Kathy Lee skits and I want my 6 minutes back. God I miss the Chappelle show.

Perhaps it's different if we've never seen the characters before. I didn't like Gilly or Jon Bovi, but the blogger was great.
The rest of the show was mainly stupid. Efron was good, not enough Forte or Hader, and Jason Sudeikis is an interest-killer. I don't know what he's like regularly, but he wasn't a funny man last night. He seemed like something from the crap sketch shows when I was younger, when there'd be a horrible "personality" that the show was built around and talented comedians had to work around him/her. Why was he in practically every sketch?
Is this "Gilly" really a recurring character? It's awful. Same with Jon Bovi. I feel sorry for them now that I know they had to repeat those.
If Jason Sudeikis is there to suck the life out of every scene, then Bobby Moynihan is there to simply take up space. He's bland and inert.
As usual, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs were great.
I like the Blogger, but once again, they didn't know how to end it.

I liked the Yeah Yeah Yeahs the first 100 times I heard them when they were called Siouxsie and the Banshees. Seriously that lead singer seems to have copied her exact vocal phrasing from Siouxsie Sioux and she seems to have gotten her wardrobe from that crazy Zayra chick from Rock Star: Supernova.
I must be in the minority but I love Kristen Wiig's Kathie Lee Gifford. I saw a lot of Regis & KL in the 90's and she is dead on. Hilarious!
I hope to never ever see Gilly again. I have no idea why they take a one-punchline skit and turn it into a recurring skit. "Sorry."

I like the Jon Bovi skits. I find them entertaining (and it was about the only thing I chuckled at). But the episode as a whole really didn't gel. Again, chalk it up to lazy writing.
SNL has been the king of using repetition to beat us down lately. I think that they think if they say something or do something over and over again it will become funny (the Family Guy method to comedy). Gilly, "I'm your mother", the Grease skit from last week, etc.... just a few examples.

Keenan always cracks me up in those Gilly sketches. Forte and Moynihan play their characters so straight, and then Keenan busts loose with a line like "Do you not see that both of my arms are in casts?" and it has me rolling.
But SNL has had a problem with running their characters into the ground since at least the early 90s, right about the time that they realized that a popular character could be spun off into a movie.

Did anyone else think that this episode was extremely short? It jsut felt like there wasnt much material there. Maybe because I fast forwarded through the Gilly sketch, and the Kathie Lee sketch. Overall, it was pretty weak. The footrub sketch was a bit funny. I found the High School Musical sketch funny as well. Musical guest wasn't as bad as that Gaga chick that was on idol, but was far from enjoyable..

I like the YYY's ... I think Karen O needs to incorporate a little more movement in her performance though. Otherwise, love 'em.
Zac Efron and Kevin Zegers need to play brothers in a Disney movie or something.

Efron has a good sense of humor, but the show was weak. I realized that I don't even know who 70% of the cast is these days. They're all so interchangeable. The show doesn't have an anchor by any means.
Best skit was the HSM dig.

Another dissenting vote for this episode. Another bad week. I like the KLG impression but it failed to produce that many laughs this time. Gillie was kind of funny the FIRST time. Hate Bitch please and that cast member hasn't done much for the show. Running alongside of a train was just lame. Brother making out with your feet was just awkward. SNL can give up making jokes around Obama. They really don't work. I could go on and on but this was just poor.

i just want to know if the "Rock of Love" skit when Tina Fey hosted is on it. i've loved it and remember it the most of any skits in recent times. thought Amy was f-in hilarious in it.

They put a snippet of a Rock of Love skit with Amy at the end (not the whole skit, though).
