It was already renewed for a 3rd season. I wouldn't expect more than that, though, barring some sort of massive turnaround on the ratings.

What Patty now sees is what Ellen is truly capable of doing when she is committed, and Patty likes.
The season started out slow for me, just because I really didn't care much for the stuff brought in by William Hurt's and Marcia Gaye Harden's characters, but when the screws were being turned on Pete, the season just got better and better, plus the writers just loved teasing the viewers with the whole Ellen shooting a gun in her apartment sequence throughout the season.

I saw an article with Rose Byrne somewhere that she was to film season 3 of Damages later this year. Hopefully, that will still happen, I really enjoy this show, though watching it live is pretty tough, I might have to just dvr S3 and watch it in a week if there is one.

You have to wonder if the writers wanted to be ready to make the final episode a series finale if they were canceled. Ellen actually shoots Patty, and goes to jail. The whole "shooting the spy-camera" and Patty being stabbed in the elevator but hiding her pain in the meeting with Ellen seems a bit contrived.

I just did not like the ending. Bringing back my comments from the last thread, everything felt rushed and it was because they left everything open until those last twenty or so minutes. Sorry to say that this season was just not up to snuff story wise as opposed to the first season.
Ray Fiske in his two "scenes" made the episode and shows how such three dimensional characters were missing this season. I didn't care the slightest bit for the son (total waste of time that should have been given to other characters, IMO), Daniel or Marcia Gay Harden's character (already forgot her name on the show)...
Oh, well. Maybe next season...

This is how I feel, after finally watching last night. All that buildup, and Patty still gets off clean. It was just too rushed and almost too complicated.

Just got around to watching the whole season, and agree with those that didn't love the ending. It felt rushed, and it was tied up too tidily. At what point did Patty reach out to Tom? It must have been after he was fired, correct? And after Tom gave Ellen the gun? I didn't follow the weekly threads, so I guess it was mentioned how ridiculous it would be for Patty to fire Tom for not taking part in an illegal activity. Granted, they both would have plenty of things on each other (more on Patty no doubt), but it seemed like an odd thing to do.

I just finished a 2-week long marathon of the first 2 seasons. Wow, what a great show. It's definitely one of my favorites currently airing.
One question:
Did we ever find out what David's wedding gift to Ellen was? I don't remember them ever coming back to that, but I'm thinking I may have just forgot due to how much I've seen in such a short period of time.
And one point I haven't seen mentioned:
I love that we found out about the stabbing after we were shown the confession scene. It makes me think that the tears Patty shed over guilt, may not have been that at all, but simply tears from the pain of the stabbing. We'll never know for sure, but I just thought that was interesting.

I binged Season 2 over the Christmas break and thought it was just as good as Season 1. Except for the finale which seemed a bit rushed. I've been reading through old threads and seeing how bad the ratings were (reminds me of Mr. Robot and its current ratings woes despite being upped for Season 3).
I think Damages is a pure binge show as I wonder how I would have felt waiting week to week and would it lose momentum? I'm happy there are 3 more seasons so there is definitely more to explore in Patty vs Ellen!
My one beef with the show is Patty is always right about what is going on, to the point where she figures it out everytime. And hopefully Rose Dawson gains some weight for future seasons as she is too anorexic in Season 2.
