When everything you watch is pre-empted, what you do you do?

This sort of thing happens on holidays all the time, but I can't recall the last time everything I watched on a specific night was pre-empted for something else on a 'regular' day.

All the Thursday night shows I watch aren't on:

-Bones (delayed until next week because of American Idol)
-Ugly Betty (on mid-season hiatus until further notice)
-CSI and Eleventh Hour (pre-empted two Thursdays in a row because of the CBS March Madness games)

It's actually a bit strange, because it almost feels like a holiday.

Has this happened on a night you watch several shows? What do you end up watching as an alternative?

Something I'm behind on on Tivo, or one of the movie channels.

I don't have the luxury of Tivo or another PVR, and truth be told I simply fell asleep trying to sit through a DVD.

I always have stuff on my DVR, I never watch anything "live".

Usually I either watch a series on Demand that I'm behind on (The Beast, US of Tara) or whatever TV series on DVD I'm currently watching again.

Why would he be kidding? A lot of people do this, including me. Sometimes it works. A few months ago Scrubs was pre-empted because of Obama's speech (I knew he'd be changing things but not in this way.) Anyway, I called ABC and complained. Apparently I was the millionth person to do so and they put Scrubs on as soon as I got off the phone. I know Obama is important or whatever but I'd rather watch Scrubs and if you needed to watch the president, then you could have watched it on any other channel.

The only thing I watch live is sports, and they are the ones doing the pre-empting.

Or watch something on DVD... I have plenty of episodes of The Wire to still watch!

Re: When everything you watch is pre-empted, what you do you do?

Um, if something I plan on watching is pre-empted, I either read, ride my bike, play guitar, watch from a stack of unwatched dvds, write, etc...

But it's never a problem, as I have my dvr programed so I don't even know what is on and when - when I do have time to watch TV, I just bring up the TIVO's menu and pick something - and there's always something on there, regardless of what's been pre-empted.

I barely noticed the writer's strike, I had such a backlog to watch during that time.

My DVR is usually always half full, so it's never a problem to find something to watch.

Don't you ever want to do something that involves someone else?
