wasn't too fond of the political stuff as usual. Resign. Don't resign. Whatever.

I am mildly interested in the Olivia plot.

But the Bauer stuff was great, as always. I'm glad the security guard didn't die. Though it sucks that the innocent plant manager earlier in the season died, while this "guilty" security guard gets to live. Good writing there, since I've always had an issue with cooperative bystanders dying - Day 5 example:
Spoiler:
bank manager dies while helping Bauer retrieve the Logan voice recording

Love 24 shootouts.

I also thought the "gas" coming out could be gaseous coolant.

I am thinking Jack was exposed to something and that is the reason we get to see his daughter this season. I cant believe, however, that a company like Starkwood would create this bioweapon and not have some antidote somewhere. There has to be a way to counteract the toxin.

Another really good episode.

The shootout at the ship yard was freaking awesome! In the past, Jack would have definitely sacrificed the security guard. But, maybe hearing that he was expecting twins got to him? I guess even with Jack and Tony, 2 against 9 is still being outnumbered.

Why is Olivia so dead set on bringing down Ethan? The guy voluntarily resigned, so what's the point of rubbing it in his face? What a bitch!! The whole story that she leaked to the evening news is going to be dead anyways since Jack has pretty much been ruled out as the cold blooded serial killer the FBI was initially making him out to be.

Was Kurtwood Smith even credited in this episode? I assume they probably could have used any body double to lie there dead.

Edit: Kurtwood actually had a guest stint on Medium tonight.

Sounds like Tripp fared better than he did on that OTHER Fox action show, Terminator!

Another solid episode, but not enough of Agent Walker. Glad to see Jack calling Moss who seems to believe Jack isn't Satan at the moment. Olivia is a nasty biach but she hasn't done anything evil. I hope they don't make her into another mole or just another evil character. As for Tony well I hope he won't be another casualty.

I forgot about the plant manager. I think sparing the security guard was more of a response to what happened to Juma's girlfriend and the way Agent Walker reacted to it.

He made a promise that he would keep him safe. What bothered me, is Jack shouldve sniped the 2nd guy looking to see what happened, before he got on the radio. But great episode anyway!

Another intense episode last night.

Could the President be any more flip-floppy? It was just a week ago that she wanted Jack's head when it appeared that Jack killed the guy in the hospital, and now when told that Jack may have killed the Senator she was in dismay that after all he had done that he would do something like that.

Well, Jack has died more times than Tony. In Seasons 2 and 4, his heart stopped. Tony only "died" in Season 5.

Another solid episode. We're almost 2/3 of the way through the season and it's still kicking ass. You'd think after a hostage situation in the White House of all places, they'd run out of steam but that hasn't been the case.

Kudos to jack helping the redshirt even though it risked the operation. Maybe Renee is finally getting to him heh.

I just read that Sutherland agreed to come back for one more season (which I assumed he was bound by contract, regardless)? Either way, here's the article:

http://tv.msn.com/tv/article.aspx?news=358431&GT1=28103

I find it curious that it comes out a day after his character seems to have been exposed to a chemical weapon.

Got me wondering...could we be witnessing the end of Jack? His exposure reminded me of George Mason in season two. Couple that with the news a month back the director Jon Cassar will not return for an 8th season (and how Sutherland said he would never want to do the show without him, and how they both openly discussed both Jack Bauer's conclusion on the show, as well as a possible death), and it all has me thinking that either Jack dies and this article is either a red herring or they taped multiple endings and still haven't decided his fate. Or maybe Jack dies and the final season is a prequel?

Or maybe I'm reading too much into this.

I guess you missed the scene where he's leaking the story of the Senator's death to his reporter pal behind the President's back.

Didn't the security guard have a gun? That would have made it 3 vs 9. And since Jack seems to be Deadshot, he should have been able to quietly snipe 2 or 3 before starting the fire fight making the odds even better.

For the money that FOX is paying Kiefer, I'm not surprised he would agree to come back for another season.

I agree there wasn't enough Renee in this episode.

BTW, who's Tripp???

Tripp's a wraith that is now part human.

I saw it more as an empty promise at first, as noted by Tony's reaction at the time.

And Michael Corvin has a good point about Renee/Juma's girlfriend situation affecting Bauer's decision as well.

I also thought it would have been better for Bauer to pick off the rest of the guys as they neared the first thug's dead body.

Yeah that was "mean" but she certainly doesn't qualify as a villain so far. Just a total bitch seeking power and trying to burn anyone she dislikes.

I'm hoping she won't just simply become a baddie just for the sake of it. A Sherri Palmer type-character could work for a few seasons.
