Great stuff. Just watched all six eps over the last couple of days. Not even Will Ferrell could ruin this show, even though he REALLY tried.

I think my favorite part of the whole series was when April was trying his mask on and he said, "If I took you from behind right now, I'd be fucking myself over."

Ruin the show? He was a major player in CREATING it.

Right, and not even that involvement could ruin it. But his "character" he played sure was an obvious attempt. I mean, come on.

obvious attempt at what? ruining the show? I was surprised he didn't "steal" the show. Perhaps that's why he was only in a couple episodes. Still, I have no idea what you're talking about.

I have hope HBO will renew this. Production costs couldn't have been that high and I'm sure it was a modest hit and should pull in decent DVD sales when it lands.

The finale was nothing short of hilarious.

No, it obviously wasn't.

I just finished watching all 6 episodes over the last 2 days and - holy fuck - this is the funniest thing I've seen on TV in years. No joke. I don't watch many shows to begin with, but this just shot to the top of my list. They better get cracking on S2. I see that S1 is coming to DVD on 6/23. No word on BD yet.

The scene with the agent was so uncomfortably funny.

"Let's fuck. Yea, let's all get down and fuck. Fuck the kids. Hey, yea, come on fuck the kids, too."

"That's not funny, dude."

Okay, what was funny about it? Was it the stupidest blond wig you've ever seen? Is that what was funny?

Re: Eastbound and Down *Season Finale* - "Chapter 6" - 3/22/09

Honestly I didn't really like the Will Ferrell stuff at first. It really took me out of the show. Basically I saw it as Kenny was the only guy in town that was really over the top unrealistic about himself, and then you had Will show up playing this character that seemed way over animated and straight out of a rejected SNL sketch. However, after watching the season a few times over now, it's those elements that actually allow Kenny to look like a normal person like everybody else, and in a few instances provided a level of "douchebaggery" that even Kenny wouldn't go to.

So in the end, I am good with the character and I accepted that it can definitely make sense in the aspect of it being some lame ass car salesman that thinks he's king shit of some backwoods town.

HBO renews 'Eastbound & Down'
Source: EW

HBO has announced that it has commissioned a second season of the comedy Eastbound & Down. New episodes of the show, which stars Danny McBride as a disgraced baseballplayer, will probably be broadcast next year.

Just to add to the EW post:

HBO says production on new episodes will begin later this year. The new episodes will debut in 2010. (AP: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090408/...stbound___down )

I wonder if they will have enough content to do 13 episodes and wrap it up. 6 actually might be a perfect balance so there is no filler and sub-par episodes.

I saw Ferrell's character as a nod to Ric Flair with the little "woos" and the hair.
