HBO: Documentary -- "Death on a Factory Farm" -- 3/16/09

Death on a Factory Farm
Premieres Monday, March 16 at 10pm

From the makers of HBO's 2006 documentary Dealing Dogs, this film takes a harrowing look at animal cruelty in an Ohio factory hog farm, as chronicled through undercover footage taken by "Pete," the same animal-rights investigator who appeared in the first film.
Certainly, this will expose a few more people to the utterly cruel practices of the factory-farming industry.

In some ways it's probably good that documentaries like this come out so people learn what goes on at places like this, but who would really want to watch something like this?

Same goes for any depressing documentary dealing with the Holocaust, or genocide or anything having to do with cruelty towards humans or animals.

I mean if I'm going to spend an hour of my life watching something I at least want it to entertain me...not make me sick.

Awareness, naturally. I didn't know the full extent of the poor treatment until just a few years ago.

I could never watch a documentary like this one.

I don't have to watch it to know it exists. I'm not in any position to be able to change things, so I don't need to watch it.

I may watch. But then again I dont know if I need yet another reason to be disgusted by my fellow Ohioans. Wonder which farm and where this was filmed at.?

So you don't consume factory-farm animals?

It was filmed at the Wiles hog farm near Creston, Ohio.

No, I certainly do. But me going vegan isn't going to have an impact. That's how I feel.

This is one show I'm going to have to miss. Stuff like this makes me too sad.

You going vegan means that a few thousand less animals, over the course of your lifetime, will be raised for slaughter, or dairy or egg production. How does that not equate to an impact in your thinking?
