Four episodes left including this one, or five including this one?
And has the last episode already been shot? Just wondering if they will try to wrap things up or if they will leave it as a cliffhanger.

Five including this one (this will be #13 and there will be 17 episodes), and according to The Hollywood Reporter, everything will be wrapped up at the end of #17.

Cool. My guess, and this is completely a guess, is that he's in a coma and will wake up at the end in modern times with the '73 cops being the doctors / nurses from the hospital. Maybe with one of them reading him a story about life in '73?

That would be interesting, but very different from how the BBC version ended.

I'm "getting a hold of" the BBC version right now. I already watched the first episode by "alternate means" and, with a few cultural differences; it was the same as the US version. I'm wondering if I should watch the complete run of BBC before or after the US finale. Any one have any suggestions?
Oh, someone in another thread though Harvey was completely wrong for the Lt character. I've got to disagree; he and Chris from Sopranos are superior to their BBC versions (who knew Harvey could play a bad Lt?).

Is the BBC's version available on R1 dvd?
lib -I noticed the Glenister's tribute, too, because of all the talk comparing the two actors recently.

No. It's available on R2 DVD and region-free British blu-ray.
The successor series, Ashes to Ashes, also with Glenister, starts on BBC America (which I don't get) on Saturday. The first season DVD is available from the UK. No blu-ray yet.

Great ep.
I loved the ending with Sam kinda coming to terms with 1973, Hunt hugging the guy who lost his dad, then Hunt ordering Sam a drink, and the way Sam was watching Annie.
I totally got choked up.

Just Announced for 7-28-09. Thanks to dx23 for posting this thread:

Pretty darn pricey though. With the current weak Pound vs dollar ratio, you can get the R2 version for about $14 per season +shipping from amazon.co.uk

Yea, I really like this show. Great cast and writing. I hope they end it well. I would then for sure get the DVDs.

The re-made episodes have frequently gone in radically different directions and that includes this one. This was a major re-write of the BBC episode about IRA bombings using the Weather Underground instead of the IRA.
I thought this was a great episode and ironically broadcast the same week we got the news of the show's cancellation.
Next week (mild spoiler):
Spoiler:
For those of you that might have given up on the show, please don't. It's still good and I will be buying the dvd release.
Incidentally, the BBC version is being released in R1 with a high list price which may be due to clearing all of the music. I sure hope they get all of the songs cleared for the ABC version, because this episode won't be the same without Elton John's Rocket Man.

Maybe. It didn't take much research to discover that all the music was not cleared for the R2 sets. Tough to understand why this is still an issue. Clear the damn music for dvd before you ever use it in the show. Can't get clearance? Use another song. How tough can that be?

I just found out the show has been cancelled and I'm pissed, but not surprised. There is just no room for intelligent television. This had become my favorite show right now, surpassing Lost (which is also outstanding) this season. I am either going to have to come to the realization that anything creative, challenging, abstract or unusual will have a short run and just enjoy it while I can. Or, I have to learn to stop getting sucked into the shows and just buy the DVDs when they come out.

After just watching this most recent episode it makes me pretty fucking annoyed this was canceled right when it was hitting its stride.
