House -- "The Softer Side" -- 2/23/09

House

Synopsis:

Spoiler:

When a teen collapses with severe pelvic pain after playing basketball, tests reveal both male and female DNA. The parents knew this, but not the youngster. Meanwhile, Cuddy and Wilson suspect something is wrong with House when he begins acting nicely.

Wilson's reaction to clean-shaven House...and having two ties.

I liked the episode overall. I was just put off by how inquisitive/suspicious the kid was every time they tried to give him a treatment. My kids don't ask or even care what's in the shot. They just know they don't want it.

It is funny, because his real-life wife played the mother in this episode.

the only thing i wish they would've done is kept him on the methadone, but done it later this year. made that whole plot the season finale. play out the fact he's better physically, but he was slipping mentally. make house quit b/c cutty and wilson don't want him taking it anymore, then make him come back next year when he realizes he made a mistake.

Sorry if this is a repost, but has anyone seen this site... it reviews the accuracy of the medicine used in each episode. Here is the latest review:

So now two of this season's best storyline ideas (Cameron in charge, House on methadone) were each abandoned after a single episode, but the bad storyline of Foreteen continues on!

So do House's patients just not die anymore unless they are going out with Wilson?

The fact that they wrapped the methadone story up was extremely disappointing. It had great potential and I think the rationale House used was weak. It would have played better if they had several episodes with his life improving but with several small, almost coincidence, mistakes like the one here and then he made his decision.

Then it would have been a tragic choice/sacrifice, instead I just didn't buy it. I thought maybe the point was that he was afraid of change, and that was the real reason, but that would go against everything they showed him doing previously in the episode.

They dumped the methadone story too quickly. Happy House had potential to be interesting for a while.
Two years ago I couldn't wait to see House. Today, not so much.

This episode felt like old school House; even the medical plot was interesting for a change, but I wish they had run with the methadone storyline a little longer.

How many have died? I can only count one?

This was a fantastic episode, though.. I loved it. I'm still tired of Foreteen, though.

Re: House -- "The Softer Side" -- 2/23/09

This year I think there has only been one death. When they had the two patients who received organs from the same donor (among several recipients who were dying) one of them didn't make it.

Last year that guy died because 13 didn't make sure he took his meds and the dog ate them and died too. and Amber died.

Using the totals from this site: http://www.housemd-guide.com/perform...s/Summary.html

The total of patient deaths for the series is 15.

I thought it was pretty good episode as well. Loved the idiot clinic dude. "It hurts when I do this, and when I do this, and when I do this..."

I completely agree that they needed to draw out Happy House longer. A few more episodes would have really brought some nice change to the season. Used a good idea way too fast.
