$8 {001} A foreign language is spoken. (2:1) = $16 in winnings
$16 {002} A gun or firearm is fired. (3:1) = $48 in winnings
I don't lose the $24 wagered, that returns to my base money doesn't it?

I've got $112, since {001}, {002}, {004}, {006}, {007}, {008} all came true.
I also have $30 from this week.
These are my wagers:
{025} $40
{026} $30
{027} $72

Re: TV Talk's The LOST Game
Exactly. I won $16 on an $8 play at 2 to 1 odds and $48 on a $16 play at 3 to 1 odds. That's $64 in WINNINGS. That is added to my Base money of $78 (24 + 24 + 30) for $142. From this I subtract $24 for the 2 undecided plays from last week leaving me with $118 for this week.

Let's say I walk into a casino with $2. I bet $1 dollar on the roulette which pays off 2:1 and I win. I should now have $3. Right?
The way I understand your way, it would seem I would say I started off with $2 and I won $2 and I should now have $4.
Does this analogy work here? Somebody please point out where I'm going off track, here.
Sorry to be a pest.

Re: TV Talk's The LOST Game
My understanding of betting has always been the same as Palaver's also (unless we're using different rules for this game).
If you bet $10 on something that pays off 5 to 1, you will have $50 if you win. You do not get to keep your original $10 and get another $50 on top.
You are paying $10 in order to make the bet. If you lose, you lose the $10. If you win, you collect $50 - you do not get $60 back.

I guess I'm really confused somewhere. Help me work through this.

If you have $2 and bet $1 on a 2 to 1 roulette play (a column or 1st, 2nd or 3rd group), you receive $2 in winnings, you keep the $1 bet and would now have $4 ($2 won, the $1 bet and the $1 you saved)
Also, if you bet $10 on a Sports prop at 5 to 1 odds, you will collect $60 if you win. That equates to $50 in winnings and your $10 returned.
This is the standard for most games (sports, horses, and table games), however, some casino games will trick you a little by quoting odds as x for 1 (slots, keno and parlay cards). I think this is the source of our confusion. odds of 2 for 1 is the same as 1 to 1 or even money. I think The Bus needs to clarify how his odds are quoted. I just assumed we were talking x to 1 not x for 1.

OK, Take from somebody that lives in Las Vegas:

I think it's easier the other way, however, The Bus is running this game, so I'd say it's up to him to decide whether the odds are x to 1 or x for 1.

Re: TV Talk's The LOST Game
So what won last night? I think 24 (KO by the fence), 25 (entire episode was on the island and 27 (Juliet smirk) all won.
Also, did 17 (someone other than Jack consuming alcohol) happen? I remember seeing a can of Dharma brand beer, and there was talk of drinking, but I didn't pick this one, so I'm not sure. (especially since I was listening closely for the word 'accident')

Thanks for clearing up the confusion Damfino. I live close to casinos myself, but obviously never frequent them.
Either way we figure it is fine with me. I just wanted to be clear on how we are doing it.

Re: TV Talk's The LOST Game
I think 17 won, because we saw Horace taking a chug from his bottle on the video monitor right before setting the bottle down in the grass at the beginning.
17, 24, 25 and 27 are winnarz!
Insofar as the odds go, I think everywhere outside of Vegas it's pretty firmly established that if I tell you I'm giving you ten to one odds and you bet ten bucks against me and win, you have a hundie coming your way.
Which is the way I'm pretty sure we've been doing it.

{025} All scenes in an episode are on the island. (3:1) $100
My winners, for a total of 40 + 300 = 340, plus my 170 reserve.
$510, plus my riding bets:
{022} Someone is shown underwater (camera/point-of-view is also underwater). (8:1) $35
{023} The word "accident" (or "accidentally") is used. (6:1) $20
{026} All scenes in an episode are off the island. (17:1) $13
{028} No new characters (with speaking lines) are shown. We've seen every speaking character in this episode before. (7:1) $75
{029} Sayid is shown building/repairing/fixing something. (14:1) $15

Anyway, I'm tired of talking about odds...
We now have 2 weeks until the next new episode, so hopefully we'll get everybody's balances updated by then.

Looks like I won the following:
{017} Someone other than Jack is shown drinking alcohol. (3:1) - $4
{024} Someone gets knocked out. (4:1) - $80
{025} All scenes in an episode are on the island. (3:1) - $60
For a total of $12 for #17, $320 for #24 and $180 for #25 = total $512
Didn't hear the word accident, but would appreciate independent confirmation.

Re: TV Talk's The LOST Game
I updated my spread sheet if ya'll want to check it out:
http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?k...8aPuDsaVfczHOA
I continued using my original formula for now, until it is decided how to handle the odds/payout thing.
I went with 17, 24, 25 and 27 being this week's winners.
Let me know about any errors. I know there must be a bunch.

That can't be right because I still have money invested in active bets. It's like I need a sum of active bets to deduct from to-date "score".
