Let me be one of the voices shouting praise onto Palaver for his spreadsheet efforts. And hats off to Bus, too, of course. (Palaver, I don't know where you came up with the $200 dollars...I only have $104,000. Closest I can figure is you attributed my {57} as a {67}, maybe. Don't know how to come up with $200, otherwise.)

Paid Bets:

{067} Young Ben is not shown in an episode (including flashbacks, not including "Previously on Lost"). (8:1) $13,000 = $104,000

$104,000 + $10,000 = $114,000

I really wanted to bet on Obama, but his speech just started, so I don't think that's terribly fair. I have to bet on something other than Raul's if I want to catch up, and none of these seem to be paying out tonight. Only Faraday, MAYBE, since it's his-centric episode. Hopefully Richard has his own episode someday.

Bets This Week:

{082} We are shown Charlie (at any age) playing a musical instrument (singing doesn't count). (6:1) $1,000
{084} We are shown Richard Alpert off the island.(4:1) $6,000
{085} We are told why Richard Alpert doesn't age (even if it turns out to be a lie later). (7:1) $17,000
{089} We are told that Charles Widmore is Faraday's father. (3:1) $90,000

Previous bets still active:

Spoiler:
{026} All scenes in an episode are off the island. (17:1) $13
{028} No new characters (with speaking lines) are shown. We've seen every speaking character in this episode before. (7:1) $75
{031} A scene takes place in space. (200:1) $10
{044} Someone loses a limb. (8:1) $2,000
{046} A polar bear or polar bear skeleton is shown. (5:1) $1,000
{047} A Dharma video is shown. (4:1) $760
{055} We are shown Jacob's cabin. (13:1) $150
{056} Widmore is revealed to be Faraday's father. (9:1) $35
{057} A scene takes place in or a direct reference is made to "The Tempest" Dharma station. (8:1) $25
{065} The island flashes again (not counting a previous scene where the island flashes). (7:1) $2,000
{070} Basketball is played or in any way referenced. (15:1) $250
{071} During an episode, (aside from what the title of the episode is) no reference to "Star Wars" is made. (3:1) $5,000
{074} There is a closeup on an eye.(7:1) $1,000
{075} The island moves again (doesn't count showing the previous movement). (7:1) $5,000
{076} We see the ship The Black Rock or hear dialogue about it (which must include the name of the ship). (7:1) $1,470
{080} Charles Widmore is on the island anytime after the initial Oceanic 815 crash. (11:1) $2,000

In my opinion, there wasn't a Trek reference. The LOST title at the beginning transitioned into a Trek promo (for the upcoming film). That really shouldn't count.

Thanks for the praise. As far as the $200 difference goes, I'm not too sure. It looks like you and I were off by 200 last week as well. So at least it's consistent.

For full disclosure, I know that these numbers aren't 100% accurate. I've made mistakes that were corrected after some people made bets. Therefore, some people may have bet with money they didn't have. I think the errors are minor at this point, and a 200 point error is not too bad, all things considered.

Well, there was that girl who was in Faraday's place when Widmore paid him a visit-- when Faraday was watching video of the "wreckage." And Faraday's girlfriend.

I think the Trek reference is beyond a stretch. The show didn't reference Star Trek: The title sequence was manipulated to sync with a Trek promo.

Yeah. I'm pretty sure that one was unsettled. I thought about it during the episode, but forgot about it later. It looks like only two people had it picked for a grand total of $21 each.

Well, every dollar counts in this economy!

RE: my 2 cents on other issues:

I think if the Star Trek reference counts, then it should also count as a scene in space. I don't have either one so this isn't a big deal for me.

and regarding the use of Widmore as Faraday's father twice (56 & 89), I think it's ok to repeat predictions because there are some things that I wouldn't have guessed a month ago, that I think might happen now and this was one of them.

Yeah. I'm fine with reusing predictions. I just wanted to give people a heads up in case it might affect how they bet, if they already had money in the first one.

The DVD/BD release will most certainly include the normal title sequence-- sans Star Trek marketing nonsense.

This episode didn't feature a Star Trek reference; the title sequence was manipulated in order to segue INTO a Star Trek promotion.

Re: TV Talk's The LOST Game

LOST Game — Week Ten

You have $20,000 to spend between these predictions. You can bet on any number of predictions. Any unused money from this week is lost. As I mentioned before, as the totals start getting up there, I'm going to increase each week's play money. Unless noted, "Previously on Lost" never counts towards a prediction.

Predictions are in this format:

{Number} Prediction (Odds)

{091} A reference is made to the Hanso Foundation. (10:1)
{092} The words "incident" or "accident" are used. (4:1)
{093} Hurley & Miles have a conversation together that is about pop culture or explains the current plot to the audience. (3:1)
{094} We are shown a child Richard Alpert.(3:1)
{095} We are not shown any of the blue Dharma vans. (5:1)
{096} Someone is shown barefoot. (5:1)
{097} Someone introduces themselves using a false name (or a different name than what we know them by). (9:1)
{098} An episode contains scenes in the Other camps, Locke's present-time camp, the beach, the Dharma village, and the jungle of the island. (These are not necessarily mutually exclusive.) (4:1)
{099} At least one main character is playing a board or card game. (7:1)
{100} An episode starts with a known song playing (like Petula Clark's "Downtown" in A Tale of Two Cities or ends with a song and montage (like the episode where Hurley was listening to his music player). (The montage only needs to occur at the end of the episode). (12:1)

Off you go! Post your bets here by Wednesday, May 6th at 8:55PM EST.

Please make your bets in this format:

{00X} $AmountBet

OR

{00X} Description $AmountBet

Thanks!

Re: TV Talk's The LOST Game

I'm still thinking about how to "end" this game. Certainly, we will start at square one in our final season (starting with predictions {121} through {130}) but I'm wondering what do with previous bets.

Any changes you'd like to see? What about a system of betting where you can only bank on, say, x predictions (out of 10) and they are worth a flat amount: $100 or $50 or $200. That may make it a bit more competitive. It would also make keeping track of this a bit easier as you don't have to calculate what each person put in, just a Y/N.

Re: TV Talk's The LOST Game

For {098}, is it required that all 5 of those conditions are satisfied in one episode?

For this week I only have the play money and no bank.

{091} A reference is made to the Hanso Foundation. (10:1) $20,000
