Honestly, it's about time they updated the opening. I think it looks great. So, is the show going to be broadcast in HD as well now? Or was that done just for the title sequence?

Sacrilege? I like it because while it's recognizable compared to the original, they updated it enough to be ingenious in its own right.

I just saw a comercial for The Simpsons in HD during Cops tonight and was going to start a thread but you guys beat me to it. Looks cool enough to tune in tomorrow. I wonder if other Fox animated shows will soon follow in HD?

I think everything but Family Guy will be HD in the next few months or so.

King of the Hill already went HD last month, IIRC.

Is the opening really gonna be almost 2 minutes long?

I haven't watched The Simpson's in years (used to be one of my favorite shows) but 2 minutes seems to be awfully long for an opening and that couch gag wasn't funny or interesting in the least.

I really liked all the extra stuff that was added up till the family reached their living room though.

An extra long couch gag signals an episode that ran short. Future episodes probably won't all have that long a credit sequence.
