A Female "Oz"?

Does anyone know about this? It's a series called "Capadocia". It's on HBO. It appears to be about a privatized womens prison in Mexico and is entirely in Spanish with English subtitles. I caught part of the opener. I haven't heard anything about it just stumbled on it flipping through the channels.

Re: A Female "Oz"?

Nice find. Oz is favorite show ever. It looks like it's reairing at 1:15am (CST), I already set the dvr. I checked the hbo site and it looks like this is the first episode, because episode 2 airs next Saturday (2/14) and each saturday after (8 episodes are listed).

Hopefully this is good. My cousin and I always said we would love to see a female Oz.

How was it? Comparable to OZ at all?

Can't really say. I caught it about half way through.Right now they seem to be introducing characters and setting the stage for the series. It looks like it has the potential to be pretty violent based on the riot scene.

One of the possible main characters appears to be a women who may have accidently killed her best friend. Based on somekind of flashback/dream sequence she appears to be a kickboxer?

I guess HBO isn't pushing this that hard as I've heard absolutley nothing about this show.

Saw this on last night as well. I didn't watch it though. Apparently, this series ran on HBO Latin last year. It ended in May 2008. I'm surprised HBO didn't advertise they were going to show this on regular HBO though. I'm going to give it a shot when it re-airs.

Lots of full frontal female nudity in this?

It's only fair after all of the gratuitous dong shots we got in Oz.

If it's a great story like Oz, I'll wait for DVDs. If it's just lots of nudity like Oz, I'll pass since I can find that for free. If it's a great story combined with lots of nudity, I'll be resubscribing to HBO!

Showtime is also doing a women's prison series. Leisha Hailey's L Word spin-off. I think it's called 'The Farm' and Famke Janssen is in it too

This sounds like how they did Epitafios which was only 13 episodes and was AMAZING. Rent it sometime if you haven't seen it.

Re: A Female "Oz"?

After seeing this thread, I downloaded the first episode. No subtitles so I just skimmed through it. And there was a shower scene 3 minutes into it. Obviously, didn't take long.

Re: A Female "Oz"?

Isn't there a UK show on Logo called "Bad Girls" that's more or less a female version of "OZ"?

Looks like Alan Ball is doing an HBO version.

Re: A Female "Oz"?

Anyone still watching this?

They really caught me with
Spoiler:
Lorena killing Bambi and making what appears to be a major heel turn. The lady who played Bambi did a great job of projecting herself as badass.

Also she cleans up pretty nice.

I'm still watching, although I'm one week behind. After the dvr records tonights episode, I'll have 2 to watch. I think next week is the finale. I absolutely love this show and have to thank you again for bringing it to my attention.
