OK, since I'm in love with Allison Mack I'm going to tone what I came in here to post. But so far this is horrible stuff. Anything Lana just kills this show for me.

Edit. Ugh :(

I thought this episode was pretty good for what is was... until that last scene. Then it turned into "Attack of the Clones" dialogue.

I'm assuming the Prometheus idea comes from the DC Comics character of the same name.

Still I thought the direction was pretty solid. Interesting twist for the Lana plot. Not really excited for it, but it is intriguing. Let's see where they go, but this cannot end well was all I was thinking at the end.

When Jor-El restored her memory after Brainiac was removed from her.

Wow, that was one stylish gas station bathroom hair cut.

Ugh, that Clark/Chloe scene was almost unwatchable. "I have ability's, I can take care of myself."

Which DC Comics character of the same name? Is she going to burn hot or get ass-beat by Batman?

Answer: Neither. She's just going to look hot as hell and suck.

Which would be much better my way, by the way.

He's asking how she knows now. When Jor-El restored her memories, he left out the ones pertaining to Clark's secret. She remembers now after having Braniac taker her over and then having him removed with the aid of the Legion.

It's really hard, but we have to stay strong. I think there's just one more episode for Lana.

The Tess breakin action was ok, everything else was blah.

Count me in as another who can't wait for Lana to leave. How can somebody who looks like that be that unwatchable?

I don't think you can't blame Kristen Kreuk entirely. Well, maybe you can, but the character just stopped being any sort of interesting and became a bad element for the show from writing alone several seasons ago.

Same with Lex. Both characters out stayed their welcome. I think why this season has kinda been refreshing. New blood and new energy.
I liked Allison Mack's Direction just not the script.
So we have Super Lana now?

RocShemp 01-30-09 08:10 AM

Re: Smallville -- "Power" -- 1/29/09

Why after this season started so wonderfully is the show suddenly regressing. Is it that they had some old unfilmed Lana-centric Smallville scripts and decided to adapt them to this season? Cos that was borderline unwatchable.

Where in the hell is Lois? When will Lana leave? When will the Justice League reunite? Why is Doomsday still sleeping in the Fortress?

They should bring back Lois, I like her lines way better than Lana's. :p

I don't know but the last 2 weeks have been terrible. No sign of Lois since the Winter break and we've been overloaded with Lana. The dialog last night was horrible and I just didn't care a bit about the plot of the show.

I had Batman Begins flashbacks during her training. It seemed very 'Liam Neeson trains Lana as a ninja' to me.

The only way Lana's character would be interesting is if she did porn.

What do they do-they take old scripts and cut them in halves and then pull them out of a hat and thats the script for the next show. Hasn't Lana been kidnapped before and she had super-powers before? They could do what Bewitched did when they were running low on idea's and just do a show with a script from a previous show and use it word for word. Doubt if anyone would know the difference.

The only problem I had with this episode was Kristin Kreuk's dialogue. I love her to death, but it was painful to listen to. Interesting wig Kreuk was wearing in the video tape scene, since I know she chopped off all her air last summer.

I really miss Erica Durance. I know she has some TV movies/DTV movies in the pipeline, but I think she's missing out by not committing to this show a full season.

Other than that, it wasn't as horrible an episode as some of you are making it out to be.

Bronkster 01-31-09 01:23 PM

what a stinker

I have to disagree. I've been with this show since Day One and this episode was the first one that seriously made me consider just fast-forwarding through the second half.

Bathroom haircut scene! Dramatic music! Cut to commercial!! OMG!!!

Re: Smallville -- "Power" -- 1/29/09

Know what would be awsome? If Lana had to sacrafice herself to save Clark from Doomsday. Redeems 8 years of Lana AND ensures we never have to see her again.

I was at least hoping she'd run off into the world to do some good, instead we were treated to a "barn scene" of monumental proportions. I suppose if it's to give them real closure, instead of gun-point dvd closure then it's worth it.

I agree Lois needs to come back so they can keep moving that plot forward. Unfortunately, once Lois comes back that probably means Jimmy won't be far behind...

I felt we were headed somewhere this season, but this whole Lana stint feels like a sidetrack. :(

I think (Hope!) you might be on to something here...

Terrible episode.

I know Jimmy's not beloved but at least you'd think someone would mention how he's doing...

Why was Lana's phoenix necklace hidden in Chloe's apartment?

Clark could really give Batman a run for his money with his stellar detective work at the Isis foundation. "Did you say you saw Lana standing near this radiator?"

Superman07 02-01-09 09:15 AM

Re: Smallville -- "Power" -- 1/29/09

I know Chloe has referenced going to visit Jimmy in the hospital over the last few episodes, so I've taken that to mean he's in bad shape but recovering. He did almost get run through.

I believe it was mentioned Lana was staying with Chloe while she was in town, so she likely just put it there.

Also, if something happens to Lana despite her "strength" then maybe Clark will realize it doesn't matter how strong anybody is for them to be safe. In turn he go do what he needs to do. Metropolis is waiting for their Red Blue Blur!

I don't think anybody mentioned Tess. She totally opened up a can on that old sidekick of Lex's. What was worse - or scarry - was to see the look of remorse just leave her face. shudder

Lana last episode is next week, so we all can rejoice :)
On a side note, i like lana, i just wish they made clark and lana just as friends, instead of all this clana bs. On another note, i think her character has gone down hill, i love lana back in season 1-4, after that, i don't know what happen.

It was called Season 5. I initially mixed this up with the search for the metal pieces and the Teagues, but I think that was actually S4 (I'd say the worst to date). However, I think the main problem (with regard the issue you stated - not with the show in general) is that Lois was introduced as a regular. This caused the writers to begin and focus on the Lois/Clark aspect of the mythos and in turn they didn't have as much to do with Lana. I think this is when the Lex/Lana relationship really started. I never felt it was justified or compelling. I think they simply did it to mix things up and to drive a wedge between Clark and Lex. Also, I think 100 really was the end of any meaningful chance they had. After what Clark sacraficed in order to save her I don't think his guilt, coupled with his protective nature, would allow him to have a true relationship with her.

Also, I will say that S5 did give us the worst episode so far - Thirst. Mind, this is followed closely by Velocity and Hero. I'll let you figure out the common linkage between those last two.

Re: Smallville -- "Power" -- 1/29/09

Every season has its ups and downs. Just terrible episodes. I think most people are waiting for a doomsday fight with clark. Looking at the upcoming episodes, i don't see anything about doomsday, but davis is mention. Just have to wait and see i guess.
I think they are going to save the fight with doomsday and clark near the end of this season and depending on if we get a season 9, doomdsay might end up beating up clark near death hahaha.

But they could give us round one.

Axeramm 02-01-09 05:17 PM

Re: Smallville -- "Power" -- 1/29/09

Could Doomsday have anything to do with next week being Lana's last episode? Maybe they can be fighting and Clark hurls both out into space.
