Anyone else excited about CHUCK in 3-D?!?!?!

I am pretty excited about this episode. I have the 3-D glasses from The Polar Express 3-D movie - do you think these will work?

Anyone else find these? They are supposed to be in Sobe life displays.

I would be if I could find the damn glasses anywhere.

The GF took one for the team and went to a screening of Bloody Valentine 3D.

I now have a pair of said glasses. :)

I'm pretty sure that's a different type of 3-D technology and those will not work for Chuck. Unless your smiley face is meant to be sarcastic. Or I suppose I could be wrong, but I don't think I am. The article says those glasses are blue and amber colored, where as the My Bloody Valentine 3-D glasses are basically clear (or a bit grey looking). It's not the same type of 3-D, so it won't work.

Wow, 17 stores and not a single one of those in my area.

Four more mail days before the Bowl, I wouldn't expect them in time if I called.

I'm going to use the ones that came with my Polar Expresss Blu-ray. That should work fine.

Here's hoping it is better than the Medium 3-D episode.

Correct. You will need the red and blue lenses and not the polarized ones used in theaters.

Actually, I don't know if those will work either. This is from the article above:

will use a new process by ColorCode that will be viewable in 3D on any HD set. Technically, ColorCode is a subset of an old 3D process called “anaglyphic” that requires special glasses. However, unlike previous Anaglyphic 3D processes, the ColorCode system requires blue and amber lens glasses, instead of the blue and red ones used with previous 3D anaglyphic systems. The 3D effect is supposed to be more dramatic with the new ColorCode glasses and will appear clearer (in 2D) for the viewers that didn’t get their 3D glasses.

What? Only HD sets? First I've heard of that.

I totally forgot about this. Luckily I happened to be at walmart last night, and my cousin saw the display. Grabbed a couple pairs of them.

Re: Anyone else excited about CHUCK in 3-D?!?!?!

Targets and Mejers are supposed to get them around January 30th.

You cannot use polorized or red/blue glasses. It's more of an amber/blue thing.

They stopped taking phone orders about 5 days ago. I tried and they told me there was not enough time to mail them.

It took me calling around before I found one of our Kmarts that still had them. Now I have enough for us and our guests for the game.

Chuck returns February 2nd. Don't worry, I'll start an episode thread then to remind everyone.

Nope. I need to find a pair myself. It's going to suck watching a blurry episode if I don't get the glasses in time.

Re: Anyone else excited about CHUCK in 3-D?!?!?!

This seems like a piss poor promotion, because a lot of people are still having a hard time finding the glasses.

If you’re desperate, you can get them at EBay, just search for “3d glasses superbowl”, although it may not get to you in time.

Also, my Target store has them now (no need to wait until 2/1), maybe yours will too.

Polarized (clear) glasses from theatrical screenings will NOT work.

Anaglyph (red/cyan) glasses from comic books or various DVDs will NOT work.

You have to have the yellow/blue glasses (ColorCode) for this broadcast. Luckily I have some that were packaged with some Region 2 DVDs (such as GHOSTS OF THE ABYSS) so I am set.

My supermarket had giant bins full of the glasses at the entrance, near a Pepsi and Sobe Water display. They are distrubtiing millions of these things, so it shouldn't be that hard to find them.

They had them close to the entrance at my Safeway near a Pepsi display. La Plata MD location.

People near where I live does not seem to care. The two local supermarkets that I went to last week (Albertsons and Stater Brothers) both still have nearly a full box of the 3D gleasses. :scratch2:

But this should be an interesting exprience...

I'll have to take a look at what I've got at home. Each "sheet" of this thing contains 4 pairs of 3-D glasses. If I've got two sheets at home, then I could send you a couple of pairs. If not, I'll need to pick up some more.

The real issue is whether you would get it in time if the glasses is snail mailed out Thursday or Friday. I live in CA, and I believe it'll take at least 2 to 3 days to get them anywhere else.

To be fair, no one has to watch Chuck live and the only thing during the Super Bowl is a commercial, so I don't see getting them late being a big problem.

wait there is a 3-D commercial during the SB that use these special special glasses? do we know what it is for and when it plays?

anyone find these in Walmart or Target and can tell me where they were located?

Re: Anyone else excited about CHUCK in 3-D?!?!?!

Are you being facetious or are you serious? The main promotion is the Monsters vs. Aliens commercial. Chuck is a bonus promo.

I called the number in the link above: 1-800-646-2904 and the lady wasn't positive I would get them given that the SuperBowl is in a few days. She took my info down all the same. I don't care if I get them late. As much as it will pain me, I can wait to watch Chuck.

According to the Chuck website, Target should have them on 1/31 (see below).

Look for them in the soda/water aisle of the grocery area.

The event is sponsered by SoBe Water & Pepsi.

I happened to find them at my Cub foods in Minnesota yesterday by the water (Cub is a Supervalu company). The display wasn't as big as I thought it would be, at least at my location. Just a standing box about waist high.

From the NBC/Chuck website:

Don't "chuck" those Super Bowl 3D glasses:
Chuck returns with a 3D episode on February 2nd at 8/7c
Super Bowl viewers who pick up a pair of free 3D glasses to see the first all-3D commercial break running in Super Bowl XLIII on NBC will want to hang on to them to watch an all-3D episode of Chuck premiering the next night.
The 3D episode, "Chuck vs. the Third Dimension," debuts Monday February 2nd at 8/7c on NBC and will feature a special guest appearance by NBC Sports analyst and Super Bowl champion Jerome Bettis. The episode has been specially produced to take advantage of the same cutting edge 3D technology being used for the Super Bowl promotions. Watch a preview.
And in an online first, viewers can use the same glasses to watch the episode in 3D at NBC.com starting February 3rd. The site will also offer a non-3D version of the episode for online viewing.
Intel has produced over 125 million pairs of the 3D glasses, which are being distributed by PepsiCo through the SoBe Lifewater brand. The glasses are available at 25,000 SoBe Lifewater retail displays and are FREE to consumers. Some of the retail locations include:
Kroger
Ralph's
Frys
Safeway/Vons
Supervalu
Food Lion
A & P
Pathmark
Coburns
Fresh Brands
Hy Vee
Nash Finch
Roundy's
Winn Dixie
K-Mart
Dollar General
Hess (select stores)
CVS (select geographies)
Meijer (on 1/31)
Target (on 1/31)
Should a display's supply of glasses run out or if a retailer near you does not carry the glasses, consumers can call 1-800-646-2904 to obtain a pair for free.
