"Jericho" Movie?
"Jericho" producer says movie in the works
According to the show's executive producter, a film version of US TV drama "Jericho" is in the works.
Turteltaub told Moviehole that the series would act as a launch pad for a "bigger, full-on American version" surrounding the happenings in Jericho and beyond.
The show, which centres on the US post-nuclear attacks, was cancelled in 2008 after just two seasons due to a decline in ratings.
Stars Skeet Ulrich and Ashley Scott are expected to return to their roles for the feature follow-up, Turteltaub said.
"We're developing a feature for Jericho. It would not require you to have seen the TV show, but it [would] get into life after an event like this on a national scale. It would be the bigger, full-on American version of what's going on beyond the town in Jericho," he said.

Hmmm... I'm sorta split on this because my favorite character did not survive the final episode (although he did in the alternative non-finale version). I'll have to think about whether I'll support this project now with all my "psychic voodoo powers of success" ability.

The title of this thread is a little deceiving. Turteltaub says the movie is being developed. Producers like him probably work on developing scripts all the time. It doesn't mean that a studio actually greenlighted it yet. I'm thinking that this will be a straight to DVD release. I'm only going to watch it if they get Lennie James back.
Plus, Moviehole? I don't think that's a really credible source. This is really hearsay as of right now.
PS: I think someone posted this in a Jericho thread a few weeks ago.

All due respect, I'll believe it when I see it. A direct-to-DVD movie? Maybe. A theatrical release? No way. What sane studio would bankroll it? It's not like the public is screaming for a Jericho reunion. Fans got a second season, and they didn't even watch THAT. Why would anyone believe they'd PAY to see Jericho?

Actually, I believe my wife would be more than happy to pay. We were flipping channels the other day and ran across an episode on one of our non network/non cable channels, and she commented on how much she missed the show.

The original article about the Jericho movie:

The announcement was also confirmed by Carol Barbee, Jericho's Executive Producer. CBS Paramount has been in talks to continue Jericho since the 2nd cancellation. Talks are still on-going.

Re: Jericho movie is go!
I think a theatrical release of this would be feasible. The bigger question is whether it could be made for a price that would prove to be feasible. If everybody is working cheap enough to make a $5 million film, it's going to be worth it for somebody. This film doesn't need special effects, doesn't feature that well known a (surviving) cast, and shouldn't really need expensive sets or location shooting.
Stranger things have happened, but I'd say chances are strong this will be in development hell.

Did you guys notice that Turteltaub 'full on nationwide coverage' statement? Post-nuclear attacked America? Source material or not, that sounds like it would make for a good movie. Might as well make it Jericho. Sounds like it'll have no problem as a stand-alone story.
